Yes, with one caveat -- if something like the infamous "vigorous rubbing" caused the balls to measure at legal levels pregame with less air in them than other balls do, thus leading to lower-pressure balls during the game, I doubt he minded in the least.

That wouldn't be cheating, although it would be a particularly clever use of the NFL's rulebook.

Now the Patriots are trying to explain away some of the texts with some honestly laughable explanations. I also understand if you think that the punishment doesn't fit the crime. That's hardly an argument. And part of the punishment is the not turning over Brady's cell phone, they're repeat offenders now and Kraft acted like a fool questioning everyone's integrity. I still think it's going to be reduced a game or two. I think the punishment fits the crime provided the suspension is reduced at least one game.

my take...brady DID have these idiots do this...take ref approved (and repumped) balls and deflate them quickly before the game...with no gauge, and no time. ilegal, yes. but the intention wasnt to go below 12.5...

he wanted them at 12.5

they use a needle, no gauge, and puff air out to what they "think" is 12.5. its why i think brady was so adamant that he "doesnt think he cheats". in his mind, he doesnt. he asked for 12.5...and got a wide range because it was done quickly, unscientifically, and by 2 adult teenage girls.

If Brady likes his footballs to be at the 12.5 PSI why in hell would they have been higher than 12.5 when they were handed to the refs for inspection? If they were doing their job they would have had the balls at the 12.5 pressure Brady used all week in practice.

Or did Brady practice with them below the 12.5 PSI and then the ball boy had to inflate them enough to get them approved? But then have to let air out after to please Brady?

In Patriot land there should be no need for a deflator. Only an inflator is needed to get the balls set at 12.5 psi and then add air meaning inflate them on occasion if air seeps out.

that might be the crux of the argument. if you recall, brady was miffed week 12 (jets game) i think (and mentioned in the texts) about the "refs fucking them" with really over inflated balls after inspection. the refs dont do custom PSI...they just pump to a legal range, and say "here ya go".

possible that brady got balls back from the refs at like say, 15 PSI and had these idiots illegally (yes) deflate them back to 12.5 as i said?
