Yeah... a fifth ? Something...Miami traded a 2nd and a 5th for Rosen.
They can't get a third or something?

Excellent points. Definitely possible.I think Riviera didn’t want Haskins and looked at the schedule and saw that the next six or seven games are not that strong opponents and those games could cement Haskins as his starter. So better to make the move now than later.I know he doesn’t look at any part as a gimmie and if he believed in Haskins, this would be a good opportunity, but I could also see that he believes he’s not long-term and he wants to be able to move on.
I dont see how this is a terrible decision. Just because you let a guy play doesn't mean he is going to get significantly better. And for Haskins to be a legit NFL starter he needs to get SIGNIFICANTLY better.
Josh Rosen started 16 NFL games and the ENTIRE NFL saw enough in those 16 games to know that he wasn't worth a roster spot in this league.
And Rivera is a new HC in WA. If I am starting out in year 1 knowing I have probably only 2 or 3 seasons to put up a winning season or get fired and never be a head coach again, I sure as hell don't tie my horse to Haskins either.
AgreedNah Rosen was a lot worse than Haskins and not saying Haskins has been good or anything...plus Haskins was picked mid 1st and was projected around a 2nd so that's on the front office. A new coach comes in and he wants his guy...that has more to do with it than people think imo. Doesn't mean Haskins is done with the team but it's about control. I just don't get the timing and with all the covid and no training camp/limited time. It's a quick decision but I get it. I said from the start Haskins would benefit sitting for a couple years behind a veteran...well they stuck him in there and didn't give him a fair chance. You keep toying with young players and it isn't helping the player. Trade him to a stable franchise where he can sit behind a veteran QB and give him a fair chance to become something. New Orleans or NE maybe? Not saying they will trade him but it might be best for the kid at this point.
Agreed
In summation...
RR stated he wanted a QB competition but COVID. DH is obviously not his guy. FO scouts did not want DH, Danny Boy did. Cap problems likely negate a trade and he doesn’t have enough on tape to help his value. Head scratcher on timing. Gotta be the weak NFCE imo
Haskins stats compare favorably to Rosen fwiw
Excellent summation of what we’ve seen from DH this year. Still thought RR would give him to the bye

Stability and the same old lack of patience shit. Imagine if Allen shits the bed...OTOH, if it works all goodWhat have you got to lose?
I’ll let you cap gurus figure it out. All I know is lack of value for our first round pick...and that being a shitty pick that Snyder forced down this franchises throatWashington cap situation next year is more than fine to trade Haskins and take an accelerated cap hit on him (essentially moving all his cap hit from 21-22 to all in 21). Especially when you factor in that next season they finally get rid of the Smith contract.
Hell Washington has the room to trade him this year if they wanted to. They are 23M under the cap right now. Trading him now only adds $4M to Washington's cap....and it would clean up future years.
Remember it is just the signing bonus that they would be taking an accelerated hit on. His dead cap hit for cutting him is higher than that because all the base salaries are guaranteed ….but the trading team takes on those responsibilities for those guarantees in future years.
That said.....I cant imagine a team trading for a young QB like him right now mid-season. Because he is young, not good and doesn't know the offense, you basically would be eating up a roster spot for a guy who is likely to be inactive for the rest of the year in that situation.

Perhaps. DC has proven over and over they fuck up QB decisions. Let’s see if RR can right the ship. Time will tellThey had a better qb on the roster last year in Keenum truth be told.
I figure it’ll probably be the Jets. Wouldn’t rule out Denver or Jacksonville either. It is gonna be Interesting to see who actually gets Lawrence seeing as so many have plans for him lol
Here I am. I know you’ve been wanting to hear from me. My thoughts, I thought Haskins showed improvements last season as it grew. He took a couple steps back this season, and was quite frankly not very good. I don’t see Allen being any better. Hope I’m wrong on him too. I’d rather just tank for Trevor than win this shitty division if they don’t have the future qb.No I know!!! That was all I was trying to and have been saying in that other thread..... the other skins fan, and I like him, believes its because they don’t like the name redskins.
