I think my senility quip has been sufficiently proven. :laugh3:

Only a fool would believe that a team from almost 20 years would still be the goat. The joke is on you for living in the past, but you keep on believing that if it keeps you happy. smh

3 off the top of my head...

Canes beat 83 huskers, who were universally considered the greatest evar!

OSU beat 02 canes, who were considered at the time better than the 01 canes. A team many still consider the goat.

Texas beat 05 USC, which was predetermined the goat....before the nc even took place.

Fun facts:
83 NU had the biggest and baddest OL in all the land that season. They averaged 272 pounds.

The canes beat, and lost as, the goat. Pfffft.

Terry porter became the most famous ref in ncaa history.....yet, never worked another game.

NU would put together another goat, just over 10 years after 83 (many think they still are). That season they again had tto face a team from florida......with much different results.
You're welcome...

In 1986, the Miami Hurricanes were heavily favored to beat Penn State in the NC game. Before that game, many so call experts stated that team ,which had all American running back Hightower and Heisman winner Vinnie Testaverdi, was the best ever. Testiverdi threw 5 interceptions that day and Miami lost 14-10 to a team that was supposed to lose by 20..... has to be one of the biggest upsets in the NC game history.

Stop acting like players today are that much stronger and faster than just 20-30 years ago. Hell, put a young Earl Campbell in the backfield of any team today and he'd still run over defenders today, or put a young Leroy Selmon on the defensive line and see what he does to opposing QB's...sheesh.

Chucklehead's logic: 2015 K-State will be better that 2005 Texas. And 10 years all rosters will be filled with guys that look like this, because strength and conditioning is a new thing...

'13 Auburn and '13 FSU would blow '95 Nebraska away.
... and more than likely '15 K State would probably beat '95 Nebraska. The players today are bigger, faster and stronger than players from 20 years ago. It's obvious that you don't get that.

The GOAT term is misleading because it should be the Greatest Team up to this season.

Got it. 2015 K-State is light years ahead of 2005 Texas. You've really opened my eyes.

You're writing about individuals and not entire teams.

Leroy Selmon(6'3 256#) did not play against OL that averaged more than 30 to 40 #s bigger than him. He was a star 40 years ago and would not be a ProBowler in 2014. Here are just 2 examples Suh is 6'4" 307. Greg Hardy 6'5" 290#.

20 years not 10. You've opened my eyes and you will be ignored from now on.
The initial example you gave was a 10 year difference. Or is your BS too hard for you to remember?

3 posts in a row about a game I seemingly cant remember :noidea:

Yeah, there was a lot of Miami Hype before that game and Jimmie Johnson was determined to showcase his Heisman winner and Joe Paterno was determined to not let Testaverdi beat his team. Miami received 1st and with all running plays featuring Hightower ran over the Penn State defense and scored. Miami decided to then go to the passing game. Had Miami stayed with their running game, they win big. Ego's were really out of shape that day. Also when the Miami team landed at the airport, they all were wearing military camouflage utilities. A bunch of thugs who should have easily won that game just couldn't play it straight. Too bad, as I really believe that team was one of the best ever; just no discipline and no class.

I've never heard people say that, maybe they are referring to after the game? All I know is USC really never had a chance to prove they were the best because Michigan was not that good of a team. To be fair LSU played a team that was beaten 35-7 just a few weeks prior so the same can be said about the Tigers.

Up till Oklahoma was beaten by Kansas State ESPN had been hyping them up like crazy. I think that hype is what put Oklahoma in the match up that messed up the SC/LSU game we wanted to see.

(Sorry I've been traveling and missed your post)

SEC! SEC!

Never again!

That's the only reason I would associate with tSEC - the perception that the conference is stronger would hep in the polls. As the polls become less important - tSEC will become less important.
