Hughes was a poor fit. NOT a players coach.

I can't knock the guy because the DL played exceptionally under him, but I just remember thinking he would be a poor recruiter and he wouldn't win anyone over in the room. May very well be the reason VV is gone.

Pretty obvious Riley showed him the door.

We all know who did and didn't get a raise. Honestly Brian Stewart was hanging on by a string but since we pulled some decent DB's he was ALLOWED to stay here. Don't be surprised if Stewart isn't sent packing next year.

Starting to suspect that Mike Riley gives zero fucks about you if you're not in his immediate circle. I respect that.

I'm loving the sense of urgency... especially recruiting wise.

Not likely because I don't think he would take him from Chryst, but I would love Inoke Breckterfield, D-line coach for Wisconsin. He played for Riley and was a GA under him at OSU when he was getting started in coaching.

I keep hearing Tavita Thompson. Would go along with HCMR's track record, but would make very little sense. You're telling me you're going from a previously successful DC to a friggin GA tight ends coach?

I saw someone mention the Utah DL coach. I think he's Samoan. That would go a LONG way toward recruiting those west coast Samoan beasts.

Tavita Thompson would be an excellent choice.

I think you are thinking of Ilaisa Tuiaki...he was at Utah, then moved to Oregon State this past year. BYU just hired him as DC. Utah's DL coach was coaching tight ends last year.

BTW both Inoke and Tavita are Polynesian. That could help.
