Good game Sens fans. I only saw half of the game but the Senators were better.

Thanks Comeds.

I thought the Sens were decent 5-on-5. The Habs just need more experience with 5 skaters opposing them. The refs kind of screwed them out of that tonight. Tough break. :heh:

Price needs to find his game. If that happens I think this will be a long series. Anderson v. Price was the deciding factor in this game.

I have to say I was impressed with how the Habs contained the emotion after the big hit / 5 min PP. They really could have lost control and sought revenge.

They did kind of fall apart after that Senators kill though....

Ummmm.... Puck was right there in this angle. Eller touched as he was getting hit. How is that Interference?

Charging, maybe. But this angle it looks a lot less dirty than the original game cam angle.

I don't blame the refs for calling a 5min major. Watching live it looked like the dirtiest hit ever. The blood just confirmed that. On replays, very hard to tell. Definitely not interference, and doesn't look like an elbow or a charge. All comes down to rule 48, and whether or not the head was targeted or initial point of contact. On the gif above, it looks like the head snaps back first, so hard to tell.

As to the rest of the game, it would be the understatement of the year to say Anderson outshone Price. One was stellar, the other pretty average. Can't believe there was some talk this year of Price for the Vezina, GTFO. What an overrated player.

One final thing - the Ole Ole chant. I like it. But if you're gonna be cocky enough to start using it with 17 minutes left in a close game, prepare for some backlash. Just arrogant. So is cheering every time your player gets hit, because you think you're getting a powerplay (and then promptly booing when no call is made). I'm from Montreal but no in-arena fans annoy me more.

Like I said in my post I don't see anything wrong with the hit and it reminds me of the Campbell, Umberger hit a few years ago.

As far as the Ole chant, I hate it but oh well and I agree and have always said the one thing I hate about the fans at Bell Centre is they want a penalty EVERY time a Hab trips over the blue line.

Edit my post 42. Just saw the hit for the first time and they showed a lot of angles and slow motion and IMHO it looks clean. Shoulder to the chest it wasn't interference he didn't leave his feet and the blood came from the contact with the ice.

Actually it was very similar to the Campbell on Umberger hit a few years ago but I honestly do not see anything wrong with it.

I am sure you will disagree but I don't find the "Ole Ole" chant to be cocky. I have heard it when they are up and when they are down. Now the "Na Na Na" is cocky and I haven't liked some of the times they get it going.

I'm indifferent to the crowd chants, as long as they are not cheering injured players or something similar I could care less.

Sorry it bothers you Bossman. I prefer announcers that don't yell randomly and that know how to pronounce players names.

Hmmmm. I got home tonight at the end of the second period. All downhill after that. No plans tomorrow but now I am thinking I should stay out until 10 or so.....

Yeah, I always thought it fell in the "fun" chant category more than anything. Like the "daaaay-o" chant you hear in a lot of Canadian arenas.

Clearly you haven't watched even games with the Pens visiting Winnipeg. ;) But the Habs' fans at Bell Centre are VERY vocal about wanting penalties.

Hope Eller is okay. I think the Gyrba hit probably will get a suspension, because if history has taught us anything, it is that the NHL is definitely influenced by the resultant injury as much as anything. I think it was a charge, but it's 50/50 on whether the head was targeted and it's suspension-worthy. The head was definitely the first point of contact (I mean, the guy was unconscious before he hit the ice), but that might have been as much Eller's fault as Gyrba. Tough to say or know intent. Brutal either way.

Typical Bruce Garrioch and the Ottawa Sun.

What a joke of a newspaper.

Is that paper like the NY Post of Ottawa? Not the main paper I'm assuming.

He main local paper (oldest and more respected/respectable) in Ottawa is the Ottawa Citizen.

Cool, thanks. You really do learn something new everyday.

You know, Canadians, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

Ottawa: Where the speed limit's made up and the lanes don't matter.

I will be very interested in what Sheriff Shanny does on this one. As I said, the end zone boards angle shows that it was nowhere near as bad as the low ice angle showed. From the end, it looks to me like Gryba's shoulder hit Eller in the chest. No head shot that I can see. The puck was there and Gryba did not take any steps to get him lined up.

Like the much discussed Neil on Drury hit of many moons ago. Dangerous pass that got a guy caught in the trolley tracks. Outcome made it look way worse than it was. Even the first few angles I saw looked vicious.

Oh, and is the Sun owned by Murdoch? What a shit hole rag.
