I don't think Gryba should be suspended, but I think he will be for a couple of reasons:

1. He's not a star player
2. Something needs to be done so that cooler heads will prevail

I agree with the 'Stache, it's a hockey play that had a terrible outcome.

3. His victim plays for Montreal and they want a public execution.

After seeing the endzone angle it doesnt look as bas as the first replay i saw. But he will still be suspended. I'll say 3 games.

/backing way off of my 5 gamer from earlier.

I thought it was worse initially as i turned my head from the kitchen table and pulled away from my pork chop towards the tv to see eller had sprung a leak

late last night i saw tsn take it frame by frame (with surprisingly grainy video in this day and age) and Aaron Ward was adamant that body contact came before head contact ... that the head contact was incidental

i still couldnt really tell ... it seems contact to multiple parts of ellers body occurred instantaneously so maybe $20 fine does indeed happen :noidea:

It's a damn shame we're even talking about this. 10 years ago we would be talking about what a hell of a check it was and if anything he should be pissed at his team mate for offering up that pass from hell.

What has happened to the game we love? I am all for taking out head shots but if they start suspending good clean hard hockey hits that really sucks. As it is guy's don't throw hip checks anymore because they find a reason to call a penalty. It just seems wrong to me.

I saw NOTHING illegal about that check.

With Game 2 against the Ottawa Senators set to begin, Montreal Canadiens forward Brandon Prust offered up his view on the comments made by Senators coach Paul MacLean blaming Eric Gryba's hit on the pass made by Raphael Diaz. "We don't really care about what that bug-eyed fat walrus has to say," Prust told the media.

Come on Brandon... tell us how you really feel.

That's fine Brando. You keep diving to nullify power plays and interfering with goalies to get goals waved off. That suits me just fine.

Obviously I'm late to the party (fashionably I hope), but I didn't even see that as penalty worthy, because there's no question the damage was done when his head hit the ice, not the original hit.

I get the game misconduct because if they decide it's a penalty they're required to throw him out because of the injury resulting from it. I'm also OK with it because of the speed, original appearance, etc., and it definitely helped to keep the game from getting out of hand since Gryba is gone.

That said, my guess is the Wheel lands on 3 games.

Patches and Gionta both out tonight. Not the time for a patchwork lineup. Oh well.

I dont think he should be suspended.

I dont like the judgement call against Prust for embellishment then when Anderson flops nothing. I know goalies get away with more of that but I still dont like it.

I like Prust and think his comments were funny but players often respond when a coach is attacked like that. No reason to stir them up.

Two game suspension for OTT's Eric Gryba

Will Melnyk do another CSI investigation to prove this time it wasn't dirty?
