I'll shit in your shoes.
You might be right, if the shaft on my 4 hybrid was an inch or two longer, I'd hit it as far or further than my 5 wood.I don't think you will go back once you add them

I can do that for yaYou might be right, if the shaft on my 4 hybrid was an inch or two longer, I'd hit it as far or further than my 5 wood.
I have a 3 and a 4, have thought of adding a 5 but can't find one to match what I have.On a different note, I'm thinking of adding more hybrids to my bag, at least until my shoulders are repaired...they're so much easier to hit.
80?! get the fuck out of here with that number.
I'd set it at 90
but I don't think removing distance will help some people.
I completely disagree. Distance is everything. If I'm hitting a 5 iron to the green when my opponent is hitting a wedge I cannot beat him consistently.Exactly.. breaking 80 has little to do with how far you can hit it. It's a target game and straight is much more important than long at the level most amatuers play the game.
distance certainly helps and can make it easier to hit greens in regulation.I completely disagree. Distance is everything. If I'm hitting a 5 iron to the green when my opponent is hitting a wedge I cannot beat him consistently.

AgreeThe argument is not about beating someone who's considerably longer than you, it's about knocking in around in under 80 strokes.
Agree
I rarely play to beat whoever I am playing against. I play to do better than I have in he past.
I don't actually play golf to beat anyone. I'm out to have a good time and see if I can hit a couple of good shots each round. I also play with persimmon woods and a set of irons that are 60 years old, so the lofts are 2-3 clubs different from modern sets. If I hit one or two pars per round, I call it a good day. Otherwise I'm not even keeping score.
The rest of you can enjoy your dick-measuring contests
MIght have happened last century, I don't remember any more.breaking 80?
sure, it's been done...
sometime during the Jurassic, I believe.
ever since that one time the goal has been 'breaking 78.'
I occasionally use my dick instead of a driver.

I love the sound those make.
I have a buddy who is like you, doesn't keep score. But he's always eager to tell me how many pars he's made in a round.
I think he's fooling himself. He cares about making pars, but ignores the strokes on holes he doesn't like.
Best ball? Isn't that a group game? You absolutely know when you've hit it solid with a wooden wood
I pick up my ball a lot. If I haven't holed out in 3 puts, I don't see much need to wait around until I sink it. I don't wanna back play up.
When I'm out with others, I like to play best ball so I'm not holding anybody up. All the NYC courses are always so packed.
