lol, you saw that, too? I was thinking the same thing.

I am old enough to remember that play when it actually happened. It would not have mattered because the quake enabled the A'ss to go with Stewart and Welch instead of having to rely on Mike Moore and Storm Davis. I will not disagree that Stewart and Welch were the better 1-2 pitchers, but I still think that Reuschel, Robinson, Garrelts and Downs were a better 1-4 than the A'ss rotation.

If the earth doesn't shake, I honestly think the World Series ends differently.

That said, i am happy that since that time, the A'ss have gone into the shitter and the Giants have become one of the most dominant teams in the game year in and year out.

Not psyched about the Costas/Michaels nonsense tonight but kinda cool when they replay some of their calls from the past (the quake, Halicki's nono, etc)

Not a Costas fan as a baseball announcer. But I love Al Michaels, used to listen to him in the 70's.

Also, every time I hear him say, "Do you believe in.....?" I get teary eyed and goose bumps.

Anyone who doesn't get goose bumps at that call is either Russian or dead.

As do we all...I remember distinctly watching that hockey game live. I was 10 years old, and it was unbelievably awesome, even though like most I didn't follow hockey. But if there's any reason sports exist at all, it's moments like that.

Last one, greatest countdown in a sporting context:

"Eleven seconds, you've got ten seconds, the countdown going on right now! Morrow, up to Silk. Five seconds left in the game. Do you believe in miracles?...YES!"
