I swear if Pagan swings at all here up 3-0.....

at least he got a hit, but he was reaching for that 3-1 pitch.

Damn, sometimes it's the little things. If Kelby didn't slip out of the box, he would have been safe by a mile.

Flem is upset on the radio, saying the play was, at worst, too close to reverse.

Was there a better view on TV?

How about the other play?

I thought there was enough evidence to call Pence safe, but there was one angle that showed maybe the ball was indeed in Russel's glove in time. I think they just went with the call on the field.

Walk away from a 1-1 game and come back to this. Could someone please tell Bochy to stop using Affeldt in close games? I think he's days as a useful reliever may be coming to an end.

How crazy is that. Cubs trade Hammel and Samardjiza, get Russel from A's. A's trade for Lester, Hammel and Samardjiza, giving up Russel.

One year later, Cubs end up with Lester, Hammel and Russel, A's end up with nothing.

Osich comes in and keeps his perfect ERA in-tact.

It would be an absolute shame if he gets sent down again. Where JA couldn't get the job done, Osich looks extremely sharp.
Its happened once already for him. It would be great if Affeldt could join Hudson on the phantom injury list. Pagan too.

Billy Beane's trades haven't been working out for him these past couple of years like they used to.

The first time, an argument could have been made. This time, at this stage of the season, there shouldn't be any excuse.

In all fairness to Affeldt, the 5th is just as much on Petit as it was on Affeldt.

Yep, Affeldt is toast and Pagan may be too. Pagan may become useful again after a long DL stint. I fear Affledt is truly done.

Why in the world would Belt be bunting with 1 out in the 9th when the team is down by 4 runs?

Trying to beat the shift (again, he did it at least once before)

Yup.

He was a GREAT Giant. A true class act, and I HOPE HOPE HOPE he stays in the org in some capacity post retirement. But it is time for him to step down.

And for the record, I doubt he will stay with us. I expect him to want to go into broadcasting, and there just isnt room with the Giants. Maybe he can go to MLB network, though. He would be great there.
