I have no real opinion on Culter as of right now. I haven't seen what choices he had. I''m always a little mystified by how people draw such hard conclusions about QB play when they don't even know what the field looked like.

The only thing I can draw conclusions about is this: the defensive line was awful. Useless. They need to play better.
But here's the thing, and you did this last year too, the all 22 is a great tool and useful to correct things. But anyone can find fault after rewinding and re watching every play. Slow motion, nitpick. It's really easy to think, a QB should/could have seen this or that from 2 stories above the ground. And not knowing what the play was designed to do in the first place, you'd just be guessing. Like I said, I do have faith in you Cali. You'll find enough evidence to support your predetermined opinion.
I think Jay's Unicorn needs a name... Hmmm

Oh... look... more Cutler fights. What a shocker.

Wood, AI... Fuck off. Acting as though Cutler was somehow to blame for today is ludicrous.

Joey... Cutler was far from good today, and missed A LOT of throws. Threw a couple into the ground, missed a back shoulder throw down the sideline (to Royal?) Badly. Although, Forte was hit in the hands with that deep ball, which was a touchdown if he just holds on.

All in all, just a meh game. He made some good throws, and made some bad ones. He tried to force a ball late, and it was picked. I mean, you're so short sighted if you really pin a whole loss on him for that. He was fine. For whatever reason, he really isn't what he was in 10 and 11. Just looks like he hears ghosts in the pocket. For whatever reason.

But again... so expected to log on here and see Wood and AI spouting their usual shit. Cutler was not great, but fuck off... it was a fine performance from this team today. There's shit to clean up, but what did you expect? I was absolutely elated at halftime when we were leading.

Especially the Royal throw on 4th down... seriously? He had multiple worse throws. It was a jailbreak blitz... Royal couldn't even finish his route and was covered quite well. Jay had to throw way off balance with multiple defenders in his face.

I did not throw a shitstorm about Jay, but right away, fuck off? What you jock jockeys need to realize is he did not need to be an all world quarterback yesterday. 18-36 with a 67% QB rating was almost good enough to beat the packers if he just did not stare down Bennett on that pick. Forte with 141 yards was almost good enough, but they abandoned the run in the second half again. Even the two minute drill included runs to Forte in the first half. Jay was not comfortable, that's the lines fault again.

What looked different yesterday was the first three quarters. Fourth quarter they abandon what worked again, give Rodgers the ball back and he eats them up. What did the packers have for TOP first half, something like 10 or 12 minutes? Ended up almost even. Green bay only credited with 5 QB hits, bears 0 on Rodgers, he just knows how to get rid of the ball while Jay is escaping ghosts.

But you want to throw me in to Jay bashing, fine. Now go ahead and tell me that Jay had nothing to do with changing plays, its all bells and whistles at the line and he did what the coaches called. Anyone blaming Bennett for not fighting Matthews enough on that pick? You would have blamed Marshall for cutting the route short when everyone here saw the same replay over and over, Cutlers eyes locked on Bennett from the time he left the line of scrimmage. If you just admit to his mistakes, the bashing goes down a notch.

JAY played fine yesterday.......you are just a piss and moan about anything and everything Jay and you know, but of course you will deny it....... what lost us the game is a non existent, undisciplined pass rush...PERIOD........ not Jay and the offense. You are just a whiney little bitch and need to just get over whatever this complex you have with Jay.....maybe call his agent and have a heart to heart with him.....my GOD man your jealousy with Jay is disgusting

No..... What is retarded is Bear fans still thinking he can be a decent starter here.
Its funny that all other teams fans and commentators know better, but our own fans do not see it.
I wonder if Fox will get the blame for his incompetence at years end.(it seems like its always someone else fault but his).

Jay will be benched again sometime this year...... .
No he won't. you and anotheridiot should just start your own group for Over Jealous Jay Bashing....it's didgusting.

Cutler played well for 3 quarters because it seemed the game plan was to stay high percentage and run the ball. When it came time to have him do something is when the pick happened and it was game over. You can hide him for only so long

How did you ever watch football before yer all 22 er whatever it's called?

Ignorantly. I mean, you can still watch the line play on the TV view of course, but I'm now convinced that it's pretty much impossible to draw any hard conclusions on passing defense and offense without the 22. I'm just glad I live in the era where this is finally being made available.

And on that note....since I took the day off work, off to the film!

I get that, and I'm just giving ya shit.

I do think there's an element or momentum to a game that is hard to see anywhere but in real-time tho. An "eye-ball" test says Jay played efficiently, with a hodge-podged, last-minute o-line, hobbled WR's and a Defense that did next-to-nothing.

And tho the pick was terrible in every way, the Bears still had a legitimate chance to get in the endzone late to attempt to tie it. I think a rushing attempt of some kind to Forte there, at least once, would not have hurt.

damn forgot all-22 isn't available day after yet. Just going through first drive, I this this is an instructive play. Look at this for a second:

we can see a few things here. One, Ducasse (who up until this play and the one before it where he get whistled for a false start had a very good first drive) is getting steamrolled by Daniels. Two, Cutler was locked into Forte the whole play, and the entire Packer coverage could see that, which is why they are all looking the same way. So much so that Cutler missed and threw it to Forte instead of Eddie Royal who was streaking into the end zone uncovered. Clinton-Dix (out of this screen until another couple seconds) had already rolled over to Forte's side because he could see (like everyone else) that Cutler had locked onto Forte.

THIS, Joey, is what I'm talking about by his decision-making. Forte is the wrong target. Royal should be the target. It's an easy TD. Sure, the pass was completed to Forte, for a few yards. BUT HE MISSED THE TD.

When you watch it.....check to see hown many times Aaron Rodgers touches the refs. He actually at on point poked the refs chest with his fingertips

this is why I can't stand Cutler. So this play Cutler locks onto Royal, then has to run which kills the drive. Royal is small and double covered, so he makes no sense, but Jay is locked onto him, and misses a wide open Forte in an open field situation or even whoever that is at the top of the screen would be a better try.

by the way this is also a good example of pretty solid pass blocking.

ok last thing I'm gonna say about this play, having just watched the broadcast replay where they show Jeffery one-on-one with Clinton-Dix in the end zone. Im actually NOT upset that Cutler didn't just (as AI would say) toss a throw-it-and-jump-for-it pass in that case. It doesn't excuse totally missing the wide open Bennett and Forte, but it seems like the coaching staff may have at least convinced Cutler to stick to actually-open receivers before he passes. His pass choices on drive 1 were definitely conservative, but on the bright side at least he didn't come close to getting picked off.

God it is next-to-impossible to tolerate Troy Aikman. If it wasn't for Phil Simms, he'd be hands-down the worst analyst in all of football television.

ok, so now with this one, here it is again. You can't see Jeffrey, the target Cuter is in middle of throwing to, this is the play broken up in end zone. This drive ended in another FG. Again, see anything interesting here? Like, say, the streaking Marquess Wilson who is running for the side of the end zone and there's basically nothing GB is going to be able to do about it? But Cutler targets the blanketed Jeffrey. Again....why? Again he had more than enough pass protection.Screenshot from 2015-09-14 11:02:38.png

@cubzzzfanincali...I can cherry-pick the same shit from any game on Sunday. QB's miss all the time. I understand your frustration tho, as he does do some shit that makes ya scratch yer head, but it's easy on a still to see things...a little different when in motion and giants mowing towards ya.

I agree he could be better.

Are there better QB's in the league? Sure. Many. Is Cutler the worst in the league? Not even close.

I like Martellus underneath in the above^^^

good point.

I'm not trying to cherry pick. There are a lot of other examples in this game. But they are illustrative for what separates him from a good QB.

All in all I'd say he played pretty mediocre. He's played better, he's played worse.

I actually think the O line played a really solid game having re-watched this. Not perfect, but all in all pretty solid. Bushrod had a few breakdowns, but I am pretty impressed with Montgomery. Bears also used a lot 2 and 3 TE personnel groups, but they managed to run OK against mostly single high safety defensive alignments. All in all the O line seemed pretty good.

The defensive line, though, yikes. There are some serious problems.
