Eberflus: Final seconds handled 'the right way'
Bears coach Matt Eberflus said he didn't call Chicago's last timeout in the final seconds of Thursday's game because he was conserving it to set up a field goal attempt.
Oh ya? well fuck YOOOOUUUUFirst off, how have you been man? Didn't realize that it was you at first. Good to see you're still around.
Second, I agree that the HC runs the team but clock awareness is something every QB my be aware of. Rookie QB's make rookie mistakes.
Third, Love would not have made that mistake![]()
I am not trying to defend Williams in any way, but we cannot continue to believe these coaches are so inept that they keep allowing two receivers in the same place on the field. That is why I can support some of the wrong route questioning. Watch those pass interference calls against Kmet and see that all a beat defender needs to do is run into the pick to get the flag. It might as well be a lebron james flop. And yet a veteran qg for how many years even says how open DJ is,but yet you tell us its a wrong route....
Please man, stop trying to sound smart, cause Romo knows mooooore than you will ever know.
There was an amazing lack of urgency in those waning seconds. I don't think Caleb was aware of the time clock after that last sack. It was up to Flus at that point, or even prior to the play, to take command of the clock. They had Detroit on the ropes. 9 starters out of the game by games end and you let them slip away with no sense of urgency.
they only had 1 time out left, all Williams had to do was snap the ball. The lack of urgency was the entire series. All they had to do was get half of those yards back, it seemed like Williams had gwtd on his mind, only problem was no receivers got to the end zone. There was an amazing lack of urgency in those waning seconds. There's no doubt the talent is there. We're currently cursed with having arguably the three best teams in the NFC playing in our division. Philly might make an argument for being one of those top three, but that's about it. Yet in all three contests against these clubs, our boyz were in it till the very end. When this team is focused, when it's thoroughly prepared, it can play with the best of them. Then again, when we get our asses handed to us by teams like the Cardinals and especially the Patriots, it's obvious our coaches game planning needs some serious retooling. This has gone on for too long now.....WE ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM AS WE STAND......
Not arguing there, in fact it reinforces the point that Flus should have taken command, perhaps even prior to that last sack. What good does a timeout do when there's no time left.they only had 1 time out left, all Williams had to do was snap the ball. The lack of urgency was the entire series. Gotta figure out why you guys start games so dead in the water. The comebacks are amazing and Caleb is making a ton of progress but the slow starts gotta be addressed.I am actually the most encouraged by the Bears that I have been, maybe ever. Simply due to how our QB looks and his growth as a passer/runner recently (he still takes way too many sacks).
This sucks, but big picture wise? The last few weeks have been really good. I know... I know... eye roll inducing. But seriously... we have QB.
Yeah you did. I was having three conversations at the time. One was with my friend who was saying it was 100 percent on the coach. I inexplicably combined his reactions with yours. Sorry bro. And I agree with you that it is almost entirely on eberflus and any rookie QB being thrown into that situation because of inept coaching is probably gonna have similar results. No seriously….is reading that hard or is it fun to be obtuse?
Let me add.....I am not looking forward to playing you guys again. As tough of an out as any team in the NFL. I'll just be praying for another dead fleas falling off you start. If you guys can play a complete game it's gonna be almost impossible to beat y'all.
I’ve moved on. This years team is going nowhere. I look at the bright side. That final drive was a learning opportunity for Caleb and he is going to be better off for it. This season has provided a lot of those for him.Not fired yet, huh? Gay.
Caleb is awesome guys. Seriously...we are ok at QB. Anyone thinking otherwise is just jaded from years of bullshit. This kid is good. Our coach is fucking retarded. Period. Full stop.
Anyone blaming this shit on Caleb is fucking retarded. I couldn't give any fucks less about Caleb fucking up the time management when my qunt fucking coach is there watching it with a fucking timeout in his pocket, for the second time to in 3 weeks. GTFOH.
Think back to last year, WITH A DIFFERENT, INFERIOR QB. We had like 4 games where we had multiple score leads with like 6 fucking minutes in the 4th, and LOST.
We are in Trestman territory, and despite recency bias, I think there is legitimate case to be made, that Flus is worse. The way this guy has lost is generational. This season has been like nothing I've ever seen. If you add in last year's crazy collapses, I mean...wtf, this shit in unparalleled!?

This is pretty much my take as well, especially the bolded part. The Bears are team that's more talented than its record, even tho it deserves the record it currently has. They have no one to blame but themselves (and the coaching in particular).I’ve moved on. This years team is going nowhere. I look at the bright side. You also have to imagine, with Eberflus at the helm, we have a shot at the number 1 pick again.
I also think we have a very bright future ahead after this season.
The worse we are this season, the better the opportunity we have of drafting quality starters at G, C, and DE. It’s looking like we will have some cap space, although most of our talented players are on rookie contracts. We might be able to swing a deal for a top FA at G or DE. I think it’s reasonable to expect a competent organization to fill those three holes in one offseason. This is pretty much my take as well, especially the bolded part. But like BGF here, I also feel we have the foundation for a winning team in the coming seasons. There remains a lot of talent on this roster. Definitely more is needed, no arguing that, but the core is decent and I like our QB's future. One immediate fix is changing coaches, at least the head coach.
I've seen some REAL bad Bears teams, but I've never seen a worse first quarter team than this. Which is pretty amazing, because they're not bad.Gotta figure out why you guys start games so dead in the water.
