Keep in my mind that this is the first offseason in a few years that Wade will not have surgery done on his knee

Seriously? $17mil per year to off the bench? LOL

Its a reasonable suggestions of which I am sure some agree with on here because they too have said it. There is no arguing Wade has sacrificed a hell of a lot this time around as he has his whole career - but IMO, the ultimate sign of sacrifice on his part would be to accept that he is better suited off the bench/limited minutes . This is the only way to get the best out of him. Another season of him sitting out games/not starting just wont be healthy anymore. Off the bench will be the better approach which will allow the team to be more flexible and versatile

That is important and noteworthy - Still, hes banged up and off the bench just seems the best way to use him. I think we can add a few more years to his career as a very productive player if we do that.

The Heat are waiting to use their lone salary-cap exception on Haslem, after first sorting through procedural moves necessary to maximize their salary-cap room. The latest maneuvering was "renouncing" their rights to Battier, Ray Allen, Michael Beasley, Toney Douglas, James Jones, Rashard Lewis, Haslem and Juwan Howard, who retired prior to last season and served as an assistant coach in 2013-14.
Other than Haslem, any or all of the others now can be brought back only at the veteran-minimum salary.
The Heat had to maximize their salary-cap space in order to fit in the free-agent contracts of Luol Deng, Danny Granger and McRoberts.
The Heat now will use an additional salary-cap mechanism to re-sign center Chris Andersen above the salary cap, which is why he was not among those renounced, with the Heat needing to maintain his early-Bird Rights.
Otherwise capped out, the Heat are now expected to add players who fall through the free-agent cracks, as well as youthful prospects, with summer-league players James Ennis and Justin Hamilton included in that group.
The Heat also remain eligible to conduct trades, which could put Norris Cole's $2 million salary into play

^^^^^^ took this from an article off the Orlando sentinel website on Haslem resigning. Basically, we are capped out and can only put a minimal bid in on Boozer. So Boozer will likely not be with the Heat next year.

As we currently stand with our roster, I think rebounding will be improved - especially with the mentality they seem to want to take of not having just 3pt type shooters. But, a guy like Boozer would have taken us over the top as far as improving our rebounding.

So we have Wade/Deng/McRoberts/Bosh/Chalmers to go along with Cole, Granger, Haslem, Ennis, and Hamilton (I am assuming we keep him) Birdman to be signed along with Napier (2 for 16 from the floor today). By my count that is 12. From last year, Oden, Beasley, Jones, and Allen are still out there. Do we pick up any of those guys? Do we go for more youth or get another free agent? Seems like we need one more big and one more athletic perimeter player who can shoot the 3 and perhaps a pure shooter? How does this end? Not sure Crawford can be had for the minimum.

If Napier looks this bad, do we need to sign him? Can we trade him or do give him a shot?

Give a shot...needs time to adjust. Plus does not have solid players with him. Good test for the young man's mental fortitude.

Are you serious? This would be one of the stupidest things in NBA history. The ROY of the year last year looked just as bad. Summer league is useless. 95-100% of the summer league roster will not be here on opening night

He's playing with 1 rotation player and 1 player who will probably be in the suit all year long.....The others will not be on the roster

So thoughts on rounding out the roster? Oden? Beasley? Allen? Jones? Another youngster?

I agree with bk about Napier. He's going through shooting struggles right now. But I've seen him play a few games and he knows how to run an offense and knows how to defend other PGs.

That's pretty odd. I was trying to think of who was on the roster between 2008-2010 and then I remember we traded for Marion as well as Jermaine O'Neal's bloated contract.
