I think part of the hold up on Wade is the other free agents and how to structure Wade's deal. Miami is insanely under the cap..even with the Bosh deal. If we don't get or Deng..or even a Monroe type, then Wade is going to get a front loaded deal from Miami. Since we have to spend the money, Wade deserves it. Only him and haslem can say they have 3 titles with Miami as players. So they should get front loaded deals if we cant sign anyone big this offseason. You play this year.. then see what you can do next offseason with a little more room because Wade and Haslem money goes down.

btw, Jeff Hornacek is in a great situation with 3 quality guards at his disposal.

Point made by reader: Again operating in cap space, Heat could have room for possible amnesty-waiver bid for Boozer if he is amnestied.

In other news: The Jazz have matched the offer-sheet of Gordon Heyward and he is back with them and now they have room to make more moves. The kid is good ... just dont know if he was worthy of all that money.

Boozer and Deng would make us a legit threat to come out of the East.

Napier/Wade/Deng/Boozer/Bosh. That lineup is really good. Haslem/MCRoberts/Cole/Granger off bench

Many have asked about first-rounder Heat gave up for LeBron. It’s top 10 protected in 2015 and 2016, unprotected in 2017.

I like.

Let me ask this, many mention Deng/Boozer as top targets for the Heat, if we cant get them for whatever reason, what would you consider the next alternative?

Just trying to cover all possibilities because as we have learned, we have to be prepared for everything

I really like Greg Monroe from Detroit. He is a 15/9 guy. Can play center. He is also just 24. I honestly would not hesitate to give him a 5 year 60-70 million deal.

Not sure...I am not sure Deng is the answer. He is an old 29. Depends on whether one or two year deal. Gasol about to sign with Bulls. We could be an interesting destination for Melo...pipe dream but hey....Wade and him are close.

Van Gundy and Pistons would match and offer him the max..

I read an article today that they would not match a max deal. I will try to find it an post it. all speculative because it was written by Van Gundy. But I would make the offer to him. If they want to make Monroe a max deal guy.. then make them. Effectively takes out Detroit from being a contender for 5 years.

I cant find it.. but the gist of it was.. Smith and Drummond contracts are going to be needed and deciding which guy was the odd man out. Cant give all 3 big contracts.. plus none of them are particularly franchise players.. but all will make big money. having one of them on your team with a better player.. your good. but those 3 together making lots of money, youre well, youre the pistons.

I agree with this. I like Deng's game, but not as much as I like Greg Monroe. We can finally move Bosh back to the 4 where I think he'll flourish and his career will age well. We no longer have Lebron so we need to make sure we center the offense and defense around Bosh's strengths as he's now the number one option on this team.

Let's be honest about the Bosh contract. It's a good deal today. But when Bosh is 35 and making 23 million a year.. he will likely be over paid. But the cap will be higher then. I just know, right now.. and easily for the next 3 years.. Bosh is worth this money. It makes us a contender for homecourt in the first round..maybe second. I also know Bosh has opted out of one contract and was willing to take less to stay here. Maybe I am wrong. But I think there is a good likelihood that if Miami can bring in a huge free agent say 3,4, or even 5 years out.. Bosh will renegotiate his contract to give Miami whatever space would be needed. He turned down max money with Houston to come to Miami for less. When that didn't work out, Miami rewarded him. I am glad we did.

Who knows...Can not renegotiate unless the contract has an opt out feature. Bosh's game ages well. See Gasol. There will be a major TV deal coming and a renegotiation. Perhaps, the CBA eliminates the cap or perhaps raises it signficantly. Too early to tell what this means.
