Cano is pretty much becoming an albatross. He's entirely mailed it in already. Can't stay awake on the bases, doesn't seem like he gives a shit at the plate, and isn't nearly as smooth at 2nd. He got his check and then checked out. For the next 8 fucking years.

In other words, Figgins all over again.

Howard Johnson must take so much pride in knowing that 95% of his players would strike out hitting off of a Tee 3 times a game.

Imagine having to tell people that your job is the Seattle Mariners hitting coach, he probably tells people he works in a 7-11 or something.

Nintendo has no idea, either.

They just see that fat media contract producing hundreds of millions for them over the next decade.

That's the problem with the MLBPA, they are the strongest union in the world and got fully guaranteed contracts.

I still don't get why mister intensity (Felix) doesn't do something about it. He could kick Cano's ass. The clubhouse wanted to beat up Ichiro but at least he produced, Cano is making it hard for Felix to ever pitch in a post season with his bullshit hitting.

Yankees must be really proud of all the stops they pulled right now on the M's. Pineda for Montero. Refusing to give Cano an albatross contract.

Jesus christ. It's like he doesn't even care to try anymore... it disgusts me when I saw him during the game waiting on deck smiling and joking around. You're being paid to help win games, start doing your f'king job.

Was anyone surprised when Cano came up with the bases juiced and two outs and he didn't produce? He had chances more than once to score and it was the same lackadaisical AB every time. Dude has entirely mailed it in. Playing is a joke to him. He'd rather stare out at chicks in the crowd than even look in at the game while he's standing on base. He's making so damned many mental mistakes because he's not really trying. His swing is very noticeably different than last year and it's effort that appears to be the cause.

Unless someone gets him to pull his head out of his ass this team has zero chance of even getting a game over .500. 1/3 of the season gone and your 24m player is already mentally in the off season.

Second worst hitting team in the league ffs. What do you expect?

Good news is the weather is getting nicer and we can spend more time outside doing other things because baseball isn't going to entertain us much this year (yet again).

It is what it always is in early june in Seattle... 3 months until football season. :tsk:

Ugh, not a very encouraging stat line...

I wish I could find one that was encouraging. It just doesn't seem to exist. I guess the one thing we are consistent with is being inconsistent.

Just a thought, but why didn't we claim this guy and cut loose WeAks or Ackley? He is a real outfielder, cheap, and just beat us.

Jerry Sands - Cleveland Indians - 2015 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Jerry Sands of Indians was designated for assignment but went unclaimed. These are the types of moves we should look into because they don't cost us anything other than removing a guy off the roster.

Interesting Note: We all relate a lot of our failure to the high strike out rates, and we should because we strike out the 3rd most at 23.6%, but the fact is even when we don't strike out and put the ball in play we are 28th in average in balls in play at .278.

And for the record, we are tied with Cardinals for 12th in walk% at 10.6%.

So what is the problem? We have shitty hitters. Whether we strike out or put the ball in play, we are going to get out more times than 27 other teams.
