Yep no brainer or you risk being top heavy like the oilers. I expect them to possibly move up if they like a certain dman as they can afford to do so. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next month!

The more moch drafts I see it seems that we will be lucky to have Maatta fall to us. I still like Bystrom, Koekoek, and Finn in our area.

in our current slot, maatta is who i want.. consistently good in every facet, not flashy seems to be his scouting report, and thats exactly what i want (timonen replacement?)

he looks like a good pick (plus then we might have the most ridiculous spelling to speaking discrepency in the NHL.. Koekkoek pronounced Cuckoo? seriously?

What are the odds we keep this slot or trade up IYO?

i dont think they'll move up very high.. i'm guessing they're targetting one of the 2nd level dmen and if they feel they need to move up to take him, they will.. but i dont think they'll trade what it takes to move up to get ceci, murray, reinhart, dumba, or trouba

based on huddle's review of koekkoek i bet the flyers a very interested in him.. i wouldn't be surprised if they move up to take him.. punishing hitter with a big shot.. and a great skater to boot.. off a gut feeling, i bet that's who they want

ha same.. only thing missing is he's another left-handed shot.. apparently he's got some knocks in his own end though and tries to do too much a lot of the time.. goes along with being 'one of the more raw players in the draft, but has one of the highest upsides'.. assuming the flyers make a play for a good dman this year, i think they have the flexibility to give koekkoek some time to polish his game if that's who they get

Oh awaz I am with you. I want Maatta alot. Hell if Couturier fell to us then Maataa could.

I like Koekkoek and Bystrom as well, but Maatta is my man.

another guy that looks to be going in our general vacinity.. that site has us picking up (over koekkoek, who goes to the bruins in that mock).. big and fast is good.. the review reminded me of coburn.. big and fast, reluctant at times to hit, but sound defensively.. offensive game needs work..

Another guy that appears to be around us.

Another big reason for his somewhat sudden rush up draft boards has been his commitment to physical conditioning making him stronger and capable of weathering intense forechecks and holding his own in front of the net.

Wow, not like we needed EXACTLY that pre-Grossmann trade.

haha ya, i was thinking about adding him to the list of 'he'd be good too'

i really like the fact that koekkoek has a good shot though too.. he seems to be the only one thats a threat with a point shot in the region.. i think my rankings are (in the area of 20th)

1. Koekkoek
2. Maatta
3. Finn
4. Skjei
5. Pouliot*

i think i'd be happy with any of those guys.. plus a few that could fall..

*pouliot is more offensive, word is that he's the 2nd best OFD in the draft.. not exactly what the flyers need, but i do think they need a threat to score on the backend

I'd also be fine with those 4 guys. I was just reading that site's read on Pouliot, and he does seems to be a bit too offensive for what we need.

If we are thinking of taking an offensive defenseman like Pouliot then maybe carles days are numbered.
