Not everyone knows that when a new OC takes over the offense, the blocking scheme might change.

I'd hate to have a guard that is considered a road grater and opens holes for an RB.

What I said wasn't meant to be disrespectful. The Vikings switched to a zone blocking scheme in large part due to Dalvin Cook and the success he had at FSU on zone running plays. Zone blocking is more about moving laterally than straight ahead like in a man blocking scheme and maybe they felt Hernandez didn't have the footwork needed to be successful in a zone...

Fuck yea, got an OL that can't move anyone at the point of attack...Nice pick.

Good thing we were so competitive in the NFC championship game that we don't need to worry about improving.

O'Neill is a good athlete but yeah he's gonna need to get a lot stronger.

Uhhh clearly you don’t know our O coordinator.

He’s the exact reason Hernandez wasnt a fit.

Along with Cook like Nos mentioned.

No offense taken, and I like your summary. But I think Cook will be successful regardless of the blocking scheme. FSU line wasn't the greatest and he made it work.

If they weren't sold on Hernandez, I'm fine with that, but then they should have moved up to get a player they wanted, and even better if it's a player that fits an urgent need.

So far I feel the Vikes picked two developmental players. Their betting the house that Cousins is the man to make it happen, I expected see something in the draft to back up that bet.

You're right, I never met him. But hopefully he's a coach that will design a blocking scheme based on the talents of his linemen (or he shouldn't be here) and not a scheme he prefers regardless of his players skills.

At this point, all I can do is hope these picks work out.

But I still have four more rounds that I get to bitch about if I need to vent.

Tomorrow I'm done.

Because with the exception of Homes, he might be the only one that sees the field.

Vikes ranked 31st in extra points last year.

Man, I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like the Vikes drafted a practice squad...cannon fodder for training camp.

Agreed, little tough to get excited about this draft, it doesn't feel like we drafted one player who will help them win this year. I understand building for the future not just right now so we can be very good for years but when you are a franchise known for shitting the bed in the big game when you are this close you need to try and win right now....

By the end of the draft. The Jets and Vikings will exchange the exact same pick 10 times. And we will have accumulated every 7th round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

Devante Downs, LB California looks to be a potential steal from what was written about him.

Vikes also signed (Rook FA) the Minnesota Kid from South Dakota State U. WR. From all accounts he can play. And has size.

Well damn, you Vikings picked up the best defensive player in college football as UDFA.
