For you guys reading Stormlight archives, and waiting a week for Rhythm of War: there is a novella that just came out yesterday. It's called Dawnshard and is similar to the Edgedamcer novella that came out right before Oathbringer. This one features Rysn though instead of annoying awesome Lift and is IMO much more enjoyable. I finished it in one night so not gonna hold you over the whole week until RoW but it's a cool story. Adds some very cool new elements and explains or drops some juicy tidbits about other favorite characters.
my library doesn't have the Kindle version yet...let's see how much it costs on Amazon...

I think it was $6-7 or something like that.

I never read Edgedancer and I haven't read Dawnshard either. Can they be read after ROW or will that make it weird?

Not sure why but I rarely read nevellas. Like, I've skipped all the ones in the Expanse series too.

Edgedancer is kind of just a origin story. You can read it and it will give you context. I say go for it.

I am hoping Dawnshard comes in before Rhythm does.

Dawnshard is kindle only until sometime in 2021 probably. Audiobook and paperback took a backseat because it was one of his self funded stretch goals on hiskickstarter thingy. But it is out on that format already.

RoW was delivered to my kindle at something like 12:‐02 last night, and I did not exercise enough self control to be able to function well today. But I think that's a normal full release.

Both are definitely out though.

Yeah Dawnshard and RoW are both available through Apple Books right now. I have RoW but not Dawnshard.

Dawnshard was good.

RoW is good so far too. Haven't had a lot of time to read though. An observation that I can't shake for the last couple books though... Kaladin and Shallan are delicate little flowers. My god. I keep expecting them to start listening to MCR and cutting their arms.

Panacea - F. Paul Wilson.

1st of a trilogy that includes The God Gene and the Void Protocol.

Really decent author. Not Sci Fi but mystery science?

Picked up Shakespeare is for Squirrels and Battle Ground, the latest efforts from Christopher Moore and Jim Butcher.

My library gave me what I wanted for Xmas.

About 3/4 through RoW (finding downtime has been a bitch the past month). For those of you who are worried, Kaladin and Shallan are both working through their feelings. Lol. It's actually still good. I'm liking it.

my e-book copy at the library just became available...but I am in the middle of another book so I put RoW off a week.

can only take an ebook out for 21 days though, hoping that is enough time to read that monster.

It's more of the same (in a good way). You'll dig it.

no doubt

I have a couple monster books I need to dive into this year, including Dark Age by Pierce Brown and the new Paolini book.

I was surprised I did not read the latest from Sanderson, I bought it when it came out, but I seem to have lost enthusiasm for reading. It has happened before, in a year or so I will be back to reading.

I always avoided Paolini because of the YA label. But... I almost did that with Pierce Brown and that would have been a shame. You'll like Dark Age.

I accidentally started Dark Age before Iron Gold and was very confused. I must have grabbed the wrong book off the shelf.
