Moore again, at home Serpent of Venice and while at work in the AM before everybody comes in, Sacre Bleu.
I like the Fool series of books. Pocket is a fun character.

Started listening to Skyward by Sanderson this past week, and much like I thought considering it's him, I'm enjoying it.

While he doesn't pump out a complete series back-to-back, he produces a lot of material that I like. I know when book 4 comes out for Stormlight, I'll either have to reread the previous books or at least read a summary of where we're at after Oathbringer. The Way of Kings got me into reading his other material and there's still so much more to go through in between, while I wait for GRRM and Rothfus to finish their next in the series (I feel Rothfus will be the only one to finish his though).

I'm not looking forward to re-reading Oathbringer just to get back up to speed for the fourth Stormlight book. I love Sanderson's style, but wish he made each installment more digestible. They're just so dense, I feel like a synopsis wouldn't cover important details that I want to remember.

I did a review of the Wiki before reading Oathbringer. It was sufficient for me.

I might have to the same before the next Dresden Files book...but some people on Twitter say they reread the entire series when a new book comes out. Fuck that.

I would reread from 3 books back before a release for all of the wheel of time. I imagine I may cut it to 2 books back for oathbringer, but I will still do it. Habit at this point.

I have to say that I would have never discovered Moore, Kadrey or Butcher if I hadn't seen them discussed here.

When I found Wheel of Time, most of the books were already out, so I didn't have to wait for a release until after Jordan had died, and Sanderson was trying to finish the series. To this day I cannot imagine re-reading some of those books in the middle of the series.

But, I DID re-read books one, two and three immediately after finishing them the first time, because I liked them so much and I wanted to really get the story/characters.

Middle of that series is very bad. However they tend to focus on Mat more, and he is my favorite from the series.......not counting the middle.

I started reading Joe Abercrombie's A Little Hatred and realized I was jumping into the middle of his fantasy universe, so I went and started The Blade Itself, which I am digging.

Just what I need, another fantasy universe to get sucked into.

I'm in! I'm current on him now so I'm in wait mode.

Just reading the last Philip Kerr/Gunther book right now.

Next up is Oliver Pötzsch (Hangman's Daughter).

Do you guys still read paper books?

I've gotten so used to having the book on my phone that I've completely given up on paper.

What irks me though is why does it cost the same? Digital I should be saving the manufacturing cost. Fuckers.

I do

I use the library a lot. I have a Kindle that I am reading on now, but I still like holding a hardcopy of a book when I read.

I had a hard time adjusting from paper to ebook. At first, I hated it. It's the accessibility that has converted me.

It irritates me when I have 5 minutes and no book.

I do like that I don't have to put my beer/coffee down to turn a page with my Kindle.

If I latch on to an author I go for the whole 9 yards.
I am kind of doing that with Abercrombie. I really like The Blade Itself and his universe has so many more books to go along with it...

Library exclusively here.

I spend enough time at work looking at screens. And I can hold a book with one hand.

No need for one more electronic gadget in my life.

I used to be heavy into fantasy novels and read just about anything set in the AD&D Forgotten Realms. R.A. Salvatore and the Drizzt Do'Urden books were my favorites. Also liked the books by Raymond Feist about Pug the Magician.

Last 10 years or so started really liking Sci-fi.

David Webber's Honor Harrington and Safehold books.

Man-Kzin Wars books were great.
