IT'S LIKE A DRUG!!!! I wanted to stay away.. but I can't!!!!

round 1: Ha'sean Clinton-dix, S, Bama
round 2: Kyle Fuller, CB VT
round 2: Antonio Richardson, OT/G, Tenn(replacement for Iupati, allows us to put funds elsewhere)
round 3: Dominique Easley, DE FLA
round 3: Daquan Jones, NT, PSU
round 4: Tyler Larson, C, UTah ST
round 5: De'Anthony Thomas, KR/PR, Ore
round 6: Aaron Colvin, CB OK
round 7: Cody Hoffman, WR, BYU(similar stature/speed to Colston)
round 7: Shaq Evans, WR, UCLA
round 7: Bryn Renner, QB UNC(played well with NFL talent, boom/bust depth pick)

I know there is limited selections at the WR position early, but with the news that Boldin will most likely resign for more than one year, I don't see the immediate need.. gives us flexibility to shore up weak D positions and hopefully reload for the future.

This is addicting and harmful to my brain.

There were so many options in this draft simulation, it gave me a headache.

The last one I did, the offensive players flew off the board. WR's were scarce, so I took what the board gave me. If you like defense, here you go-

CB Justin Gilbert
DL Stephon Tuitt
CB Bradley Roby
NT Daquan Jones
S Dion Bailey
C Marcus Martin
WR Michael Campanaro
WR Matt Hazel

(only did 6 rounds, because the 7th round never changes)

Thoughts?? Not great at projecting who we'd draft.

Would you take Lee ahead of Gilbert if they were both still at 30??

Tough call, but probably. I'd have to see what they do at the combine though. I liked Gilbert when he was considered a 2nd-round pick, but now that he's considered a first rounder I'm less of a fan.

I'm wary of Pac 12 WRs, so that's why I'm gonna wait 'til the combine; but Lee could be the exception. I think he's the real deal. I'm thinking he's a rich man's Santonio Holmes. And there are at least 2 CBs I like more than Gilbert in this draft. Maybe up to 5.

So you prefer a CB in the 2nd or later? WR in the 1st, assuming the right one is there?? What if Ha Ha Clinton Dix were available at 30??

I'm not as high on Clinton-Dix as most people, but even I don't think he has much of a shot of slipping to 30. If he were there I'd definitely have to give it some strong consideration. Pretty safe pick.

But as far as when I'd prefer a CB goes: I'd prefer a CB wherever Bradley Roby goes. I'd even be happy if the Niners traded up for him.

But I want at least 2 CBs in this draft. I have a bit of a man-crush on EJ Gaines of MizzU, and most people have him going around the late 3rd to 4th round.

By the way, by the time the draft rolls around people are gonna come to their senses about Marqise Lee. I'm still convinced he's the best WR in the draft. Yes; better than Sammy Watkins (by a little bit). I can't see the Steelers & Ravens passing on him at 15 & 16 if he even lasts that long (which he shouldn't IMO).

Things could change after the combine, but that's how I see it right now.

I was a bit shocked that Clinton Dix was "mock" drafted by a lot of Niner fans on the simulator. Didn't think we'd need to draft a S that high. Rather have a CB or WR with that 30th pick and possibly one of our next 2 picks in Rd 2.

Sickness, I "mock" drafted Prince Shembo OLB with my 5th Rd pick, what are your thoughs about that?

I'm gonna have to claim ignorance on Prince Shembo. Whenever I watched the Irish I almost exclusively focused on the DL (except when Teo was there & I was calling him the most overrated player in the NCAA).

Maybe someone else here is an Irish fan.

Do we settle with the 30th pick or is there a legit chance we move up to grab a CB or WR?

As you can see with this Draft I hit on our biggest needs (WR, CB) multiple times and I went with guys that are big, fast and physical. In the 1st I had a tough decision between Benjamin, Lee, and Gilbert but I went with Benjamin because I think with Boldin in the slot, Crabs out wide and Davis roaming the middle defenses will have a hell of a time containing his speed/power at the other WR spot. With Bryant and Evans I add two more big WRs in the hopes that at least one will stick and become the 2nd/3rd WR of the future.

I wanted to revamp our secondary into a "Legion of Boom" South. Purifoy, Bucannon, Jean-Baptiste, and McGill does that. With these four in the Secondary and Brock, Reid, and Culliver we will have one of the biggest, youngest Secondaries in the NFL. Colvin was drafted because he offers to much value in the 7th and I like to continue the trend of us "redshirting" a rookie.

IMO I did a bang up job but what do you guys think?

Bored today and decided to do another draft and think I did pretty good. With Beckham he can fight for the #3 WR and be our PR/KR.

I like it, but would add a little more beef to the offensive/defensive lines...

Probably in place of the DeAnthony and Shaq picks. Or you could use the imaginary comp pick(s) on the lines as well...

Hard to compare it to the 1981 draft, but it would be a good attempt! :suds:
