As if the Falcons' collapse against the Patriots in Super Bowl LI wasn't enough, Atlanta owner Arthur Blank says the disappointment didn't lessen when New England unveiled its championship rings -- and all 283 diamonds embedded in them.

Blank told the New York Times that he was bothered that Patriots owner Robert Kraft seemingly took a jab at the Falcons by using 283 diamonds in each ring -- reflecting the 28-3 lead Atlanta coughed up last February.

"I said to Robert, 'You didn't have to do the 28-3 in the ring,'" Blank told the Times. "It kind of pissed me off."

What a waste of money.

How about instead of making a hundred unwearable 283-diamond trophy rings, they renovate some urban schools, rebuild some football fields, donate sports equipment and such...

Why? The already do things like this, the league does, the teams do, individual players do!

I'm sure they do... and they could do more if they didn't waste all that money on those stupid rings.

It's not the ring that is stupid it's the train of thought that players don't deserve it. That's what's stupid!

Well what a thought provoking response! Let me ponder this and get back with you.

You honestly think spending five million dollars on unwearable finger trophies is an intelligent investment? It reminds me of Chappelle's reparations skit.

We are obviously on polar opposite sides of the "intelligent use of money" debate and there's nothing either of us are going to say to change each other's perspective, so I'm not going to tarnish my "intelligent use of time" with a useless debate.

Therefore, :L and :suds:

I have 28 reasons why he shouldn't be mad at the Patriots and 3 reasons why he should be.

You wanna go down that rabbit hole, why spend any money on sports/entertainment and instead invest it all into worthwhile causes?

Ohhh you'll continue on you can't help it!

It's not a waste of money at all. It's a trophy an award it has been part of their entire career from Pee Wee to the NFL. Players don't get their own personal trophy, they busted their arse all year and the owners and the league feel the ring is warranted, has been since SB 1. You now want to propose they spend the money on a playground for lil junior, or equipment for some random schools program? That makes no sense, as I stated these things are already funded by Cities, Counties, State, League and Player programs. You're failure to recognize these facets does not warrant taking something from the players they worked so very hard to achieve.

Yes, I have received bonuses. A nice thing about receiving a bonus is that you can choose what to do with that money. Each bonus I receive goes straight to my kids' tuition.

Now here's a question for you... How many zeroes does it take for the cost of a trophy to be excessive?

For me, once you've hit three zeroes you've gone too far - no matter what the trophy stands for. Trophies are most often nothing more than conversation display pieces that usually do nothing but collect dust. Kraft hit six zeroes five times with this one event. To me, that was a grossly excessive waste of money.

Boo fucking hoo.... cry me a river. If Blank did not want to be ridiculed in a ring the Falcons should not have blown a 28-3 point lead.

So your allowed a bonus, but NFL players aren't?
