This team was such a waste. If only it had an average offense.
6, 10, 3, 0, 3, 10, 14, 10, 6, 21, 0, 16, 23, 7 are the points allowed by the Falcons in 1977...and THEY LOST 7 OF THEM! Finished 7-7 and were a DNQ for the playoffs. The defense allowed a total of 129 points in 14 games (9.2 PPG)...a record since the 1970 merger. The Falcons scored 179 on the season (12.7). Only the Bills (160), Packers (134), and Bucs (103) scored fewer. Those three teams combined for a total of 9 wins.

-Defense was known as the Grits Blitz.
-In
games decided by one score it went 2-6.
-June Jones was one of the backup QBs to Steve Bartkowski. I did not know that.
-Jerry Glanville was the DB coach and mastermind of the defense.
-4-3 at home, 3-4 on the road.
-Scored 15.1 PPG at home (106), 10.4 on the road (73).
-Allowed 8.8 PPG at home (62), 9.5 on the road (67).
-Most points allowed in one game...23 (L Rams)
-Second most points allowed in one game...21 (L Saints...that went 3-11)
-Lost 3 of 4 games when winning team scored 10 points or fewer.
-Falcon QBs combined for 8 TD passes.
