The question is if Jimmy G wins a SB is Lance still the starter in the next 1-2 seasons? I mean I get Lance has the much higher ceiling but that would be two SB appearances and 1 SB win. I think the answers they don't resign him and someone overpays for him OR if no market they give him one more year in front of Lance if he isn't ready.

But, this past season?

60%, 17 TD's to 13 INT's.....it's end of 21-22 so no reason to bring up 20-21.
Read Tlance's comment and you can see what I was replying to. It had nothing to do with the rankings. I've already made point on the rankings.

Jimmy G is under contract for next season I believe.

It's stupid Spotrac highlights the 2022 year. So that changes the question....do they release him next season or give him one more year starting in front of Lance for experience? Dead cap is only $1.4M

Or trade him to a team needing a QB.

Y'all trade for him.....he plays 8-10 games and y'all finish 8-9 ot 9-8 and miss the playoffs.

Unless he stays healthy. SB is guaranteed at that point.

What is your reasoning for putting Cousins so low?

He is nothing special and not worth his contract, but solidly above average QB.

Baker hasn’t been that since his rookie season.

How about all the other QBs you ranked ahead of him who were also below .500, but with worse numbers?

Minnesota’s defense was awful, and their play calling lacked imagination. Even then, they lost a ton of close games.

Cousins was not the reason they struggled this year.

He’s done it consistently throughout his career. He’s never proven anything and I’m not gonna rank him high just based on pretty numbers.

1. Mahomes
2. Allen
3. Brady
4. Rodgers
5. Lamar
6. Burrow
7. Herbert
8. Stafford
9. Wilson
10. Dak
11. Cousins
12. Carr
13. Jimmy G
14. Murray
15. Mayfield
16. Tannehill
17. Tua
18. Ryan
19. Hurts
20. Mac Jones

Without combing through stats I'd make it this. Lamar and Rodgers generally rule the regular season. Brady still scares me but not as much as the guys who can't be sacked on 4th and 13 and can run or pass it anywhere.

Herbert and Burrow can still move up. Stafford has always had a big arm but sometimes makes bad mistakes. Wilson didn't win games last year but I wouldn't put him out of the top 10.

Murray is probably my hot take here but he keeps hitting a wall. Maybe it's a lack of surrounding talent without Hopkins. Not sure.
Murray is certainly difficult to place. When he's physically close to 100% and he has talent around him he's deadly. When he's physically limited and/or doesn't have the reciving talent he almost falls off a cliff.

The $1.4M dead money figure is going to count against the 49ers in 2022 anyway. The question is what they decide to do with with Garoppolo's $25.5M scheduled earnings for 2022. They can wait until just before the 2022 regular season at very little cost. They'll probably wait to see how Lance progresses, (unless another team makes them a good trade offer).

Everyone's different, but he barely cracks the top 10 for me. I was debating between him and Murray and L. Jackson. Its just those other two are discount M. Vick's. Especially Jackson. He was bad this season.

10. Jimmy G - SF
:pound: :pound: :pound:

A lot of these rankings are subjective, so it's each person's prerogative to rank guys where they want, but how can you start a thread like this with Jimmy G in the top 10 :L I don't care if he wins a SB, it's still Jimmy G. Top 20 is probably even a stretch, but at least defendable

To me it's a top 6 of elite QBs in no particular order: Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen, Herbert, Burrow and Brady

Then after that it's all jumbled together however you want. 7 - 15ish (not the OPs 7-15) will probably flip-flop around based on who is playing better and who has the better team from year to year. Obviously RW if this past year's performance was injury related can jump back into that top group and Brady will at some point (5 or 6 years running now) drop out.

He’s soon to have his second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons. That’s far more impressive than any pretty stats.
