if its based on superbowls, which eli would be, he has 2. so does plunkett, in an era where QB's got their asses kicked and could be hit.

eli is the modern day plunkett. high pick, not great regular seasons, but won 2 rings as a starter.

only Eli led the nfl in a stat of these 2. INT's. 3 times.

Wow...that was like asking Sarah Sanders a question...

Soo...are you saying they both should be in the HOF, or niether?

I think you're taking this way too seriously. But let's be honest here. Eli will get in the HOF because he was 2-0 in the SB. Who did he beat again?:heh:
well, i take numbers seriously. i dont like seeing false info, so i correct it where i can.

He'll also be top 5-10 in a number of compiling/longevity stats, which alone makes his career much more impressive than Plunkett's .. which was my only point in this thread. He still shouldn't be inducted to the HOF, though he probably will be.

lmao @DirtDirtDirt

they reference jim plunkett when talking about eli not going to canton.

Who's out
Eli Manning, QB[/paste:font]
Résumé at a glance:

i

  • No. 1 overall pick by Chargers in 2004 (traded to Giants); has played 14 seasons (Giants)

  • Four Pro Bowls, two-time Super Bowl MVP (2007 and 2011)

  • 339 passing TDs (eighth all time)

  • 51,682 passing yards (sixth all time)

  • 49,754 yards of total offense (seventh all time)

  • Started 210 consecutive games from 2004 to '17
The HOF case for Manning: The list of players who have won multiple Super Bowl MVPs is exclusive. It's Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw and ... Eli Manning. Talk about elite company. This is what makes Manning's career special. His playoff performances are legendary in those two playoff runs, when he threw 15 touchdown passes and two interceptions. He took down the Packers (once with Brett Favre, once with Aaron Rodgers) and the big, bad Patriots with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick twice. Also, Manning will finish his career in the top 10 of pretty much every major statistical category as he enters his 15th season as the Giants' starter. There have been ups and downs throughout his career, especially early and in the regular season, but Manning's overall résumé is impressive, especially in the postseason. -- Jordan Raanan, Giants reporter

The verdict: 2 votes

The HOF debate for Eli will be fiery, but Manning's four Pro Bowl appearances will pale in comparison to his peers, and his career interceptions (228) will weigh heavily in the discussion as well. It's also important to note that he and Ben Roethlisberger, who was also drafted in 2004 and has two Super Bowl titles, will likely be considered at roughly the same time, so that will potentially split some votes among the Hall's board of selectors. Ultimately, the voters will be asked if Manning was one of the best quarterbacks in an era of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Roethlisberger. He could find himself the Jim Plunkett of his time, with two Super Bowl rings, a pretty good argument and no gold jacket. -- Legwold
Where does Eli rank all time in regards to interceptions?

Eli is 6th all time passing yards.

8th all time passing touchdowns.

Moving the ball and scoring the ball. That matters most.

Most of you are screaming at the sky here.

Yet, he's missed the playoffs more than made them and has barely won over half the games he's started. IF he goes 4-12 this year, he'll officially have a sub .500 winning percentage.

He's a garbage QB that got lucky a couple times.

He's got yards. Great. He plays in a very pass happy era.

He's got TDs. Great. He plays in a very pass happy era.

He's Matt Stafford with a worse interception rate and more rings.

Hall of Famer, for sure.

:rolleyes2:

I could probably make the argument that he is in the top 5 of all time Pro athletes who get the least respect
with his amount of accomplishment.

For some reason based solely on his demeanor, everyone decided that nothing he did would count.

Everybody take a look.

This is what it looks like when you made up your mind way before you see any stats.

How did he get ahead of the other 200 QBs that have been in the league during the exact same era?

He's better.

That's how.

Rivers is close but he has to have some end of career playoff success to cross the threshold.

He played longer.

Not a difficult concept to understand.

Nope. You hated first.

He's statistically mediocre. If you don't see that, I can't help you.
