It's evidence that his name is Manning. Not much more.
New level of dumbassery right here
It's evidence that his name is Manning. Not much more.
That’s a good comparison, he kinda does remind me of Hasselbeck... Giants defenses were great in both Super-Bowls, but in defense to Manning, he did come through when it counted the most... Both titles the Giants won he stepped up in the clutch with both those games in the balance ...
Perhaps it should be renamed the Hall of Yards.
According to passer rating, he's severely mediocre for his era. According to completion percentage, he's well below average for his era. According to interceptions, he's one of the most guilty of his era.
If that's a HOF QB to you, your standards must be really, really low.
So Eli's stats matter more and Plunkett's teams were just running it.One played in an era where teams predominantly ran the ball and one played in an era where teams predominantly threw the ball. For a good chunk of the 1970s/Plunkett's careeer, the average NFL was averaging around 24-27 pass attempts per game (though it did get above 30 in 1980). During Eli's career, it's been mostly around 33-35 pass attempts per game. Plunkett averaged the same amount of yards per pass attempt.
comparing passing stats of the 1970s to today's era is dumb.
its just funny i finally have articles agreeing with me what, 7 years late?Fuck off
Next time you and that horrendous fan base bring up "era" when slobbering over that pedofile throwing for the Pats, will be the first
the comparison is valid. its kinda why theres articles n stuff.See, see! I'm not the only retarded one!
There are other retards!
Yay!
Rejoice, rock.
its just funny i finally have articles agreeing with me what, 7 years late?
again, the discussion with eli is his merit based on rings. thatys why we are debating this.It is funny
I can't imagine why it's only taken 7 years to find one person to finally agree that 2QBs separated by 200 plus TDs and 25,000 plus yards, are exactly the same
That is funny
Bet Jimbo would have made Brady his bitch also
again, the discussion with eli is his merit based on rings. thatys why we are debating this.
if he gets in for his 2 in an era where QB's are padded, protected, and coddled...then surely plunkett and his 2 rings in an era where QB's were targets would qualify.
take away elis rings. is he a HOFer?
take away plunketts, are we even discussing him?
plunkett was 2 rings as well.Plunkett is never discussed as a HOFer
Eli is because the HOF is based on rings and stats, and Eli has 2 and ranks amongst the greatest of all time in very important stats
I could care less if he gets in, but prepare yourself for massive dissapointment
plunkett was 2 rings as well.
if eli gets in, every single QB who has 2+ rings will be in...except one guy.
seems weird to me.
i will say this muchTrue, but even factoring eras, he really gets demolished statistically by All HOF QBs
lets compare plunkett to namath:
namath has 1 ring
plunkett has 2
career passing yards - plunkett 25,882. namath 27,663
TD's/INT's
namath 173/220
plunkett 164/198
rating?
namath 65.5
plunkett 67.5
so hes not really "destroyed" by other HOFers. namath is in for a finger wave and the first 4k yard season, as well as his personality. bigger than the game.Agreed
A lot of sentiment Namath is the biggest farce in the HOF
True, but even factoring eras, he really gets demolished statistically by All HOF QBs
I think this argument really needs to be put into context. Eli Manning's numbers...whenever they are done, are gonna wipe out legendary HOF QB's. It isn't coincidence that the year Manning was drafted (2004), you also see Ben Roethlisberger, Phillip Rivers and Carson Palmer (didn't play in his rookie year of 2003) all rocket up the all time charts for yards and TD's and whatnot. 2004 is also the year the NFL further cracked down on the 5 yard chuck rule....and the numbers have really exploded since then. They have played their entire careers within the easiest time frame in NFL history to pass the ball.
Just by stats at face value, Andy Dalton's, had he played 30 years ago, would've put him in the HOF. Today, he's everybody's whipping boy. Same thing with Alex Smith....and all he did was get traded....twice....in the prime of his career. Ryan Tannehill would've been a pro bowler. Dak Prescott's last year would've been considered a very good year, and on and on and on......
.....and this is the 80's were talking about....not the 70's which was even more difficult.....where Plunkett started his career.
Manning may be top 10 in those big stats, but off the top of my head, I'd have to question if he'd be in the top 100 QB's of all time. His greatest achievement is the longevity, and there is something to be said about it - 'something' but again....due in part to the era were in. When the only thing you've ever led the NFL in, is ints (3 times), and only once in your entire career did you ever crack the top 10 in passing efficiency (2011), I'm not impressed.
Someone gets a little testy when the Yanks go on a five game losing streak, FOUR to the sox.Fuck off
