Eagles looking for a safety in trade | ProFootballTalk

Report: Eagles, Patriots, Seahawks inquire about Vincent Jackson | ProFootballTalk

Eagles looking at finding a starting caliber S to replace Allen and also interested in Vincent Jackson.

Not sure who would be available as a S but it sounds like Jackson is available. Could be interesting. Jackson is getting up there in age and not sure how many years he has on his contract. Thought he signed for quite a bit of money a few years ago. With that said, looks like the Eagles are feeling good about things and "goin" for it.

I would be down with replacing Cooper with Jackson. Safety might have to wait until the draft or free agency.

How many sateties are really standout players? Not too many I think. I believe we wait until the draft, as well as getting a stud CB for the future. I think Williams stay next year, but Fletcher leaves and Carroll replaces him. And then pair Carroll with the stud draftee.

I think Howie will get Jackson, and will wind up offering a pick that will be either a 2nd or 3rd next year, depending upon how Jackson performs.

I think a Nate Allen replacement is crucial obviously but I don't see it happening until next season.

Yep, we need another WR to help Maclin. Get Jackson!
I am at a loss to find a way to get a replacement for Allen. Wolff obviously can't play.

Well wasn't Wolff a 5th round pick? Long shot at best that it would have worked out.

After this debacle in the desert, Howie must trade for one of the 2 safeties on the market - Tampa and Tennessee have safeties that are high paid, and would be glad to get a high draft pick for one of them.

I also would trade a pick to get Jackson, who is a proven allpro WR, and you never know how a 2nd or 3rd round pick will turn out. Adding Jackson would make the WR corps dynamite!

I was surprised when watching tv and hearing they wanted a 2nd for Jackson. I was thinking more like a 5th with incentives to possibly move up to a 4th. If they are sitting on a 2nd round pick he's not getting traded.

Ive wanted VJ for the longest. Id trade Cooper & a 3rd for a 2 year rental. But I dont see it happening.

I still cant believe they havent replaced Nate Allen after all these years. Sucked from day 1.

I don't think the Eagles will make a deal for a safety or for Jackson. I believe they stand pat with what they have and hope for the best. Get healthy and get on a hot streak. Offseason is where they will wheel and deal via draft, FA, or trade IMO. Btw, would anyone consider Marshon Lynch in the offseason? He will not resign with the Hawks from I've read through various reports. I'd consider it especially since we struggle in the red zone and short yardage plays. Draft a safety. I gotta do my homework on this upcoming draft, in particular corners and safeties. Receivers are easier to draft.

Goldson ( Bucs) may be available? They just signed him big dollars I think a year ago. I would at least look into it if available and at what cost? I remember I was interested in him when he left SF and became a FA.

Of those two I would prefer Griffin due to his better coverage skills. But it seems both players are on the downside and there is a reason their teams want to dump their big salaries on someone.

I'm the opposite. Godson would provide some pop. Godson would be a better fit in Davis system. He has that fire that Eagles fans love. He does carry a high price tag, but I bet the Bucs would settle w a 4th -5th rounder to unload his salary. I would seriously look into this. He looks shitty now because the Bucs suck and he doesn't fit well with that system.

Well you have a point that he played in a 3-4 before and may be better suited to the Eagles' system than a cover-2 scheme. But he was never a great cover man and his salary is large.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't recall B Dawkins being a " great " cover man... Before you guys hammer me on this, I'm not comparing Goldson to Dawkins, but I'm saying Goldson IMO would fit the mold perfectly in Billy Davis system. Who knows maybe it would be Weapon X 2.0?:noidea:
