For what $ though?

Is he signing for the min, or replacing JR?

He didn't say. But, yeah, that's the big question. I do not want Wade if it means JR is gone.

Actually, I've heard that Wade to CLE is a very real possibility.

Shump's contract is worth $10 mil and the trade exception for Frye is like $9..4 mil or something. That is $19 mil right there. Very possible, but I doubt it happens.

Maybe there would be another way.
I was just going on the premise that James isn't taking less then a max , and they would need the +20M Wade wants.

My best guess is that Shump/JR add up to Wades 20+M.

If I'm the Cavs, I don't do it.

If there are creative ways where they don't lose any rotation players, the of course I would try to do it.

Do Cavs really want Wade guarding Klay or whomever though, at this point?

I doubt it..

They can still sign JR. James doesn't need a paycut. Shump's contract is worth $10 mil and they have a trade exception from the Frye deal worth around $9 mil. That just means Dan will take another beating on luxury tax which he would have anyway and did last year, so it is the same situation. All that being said, I think they would get better but I like the current makeup of this roster.

Jason Carr called LeBron to CLE and Klove to CLE as a done deal before anyone else.

He's known because he is Austin Carr's kid... but he says his source has nothing to do with his Dad.

Who knows. If he's right again... I just might start paying attention to what he has to say regarding Cavs moves.
I played flag football against Jason Carr when i was a little kid...scorched him for a few TD's....not even joking...its on cam-corder footage, lol.

Even if they trade love for nothing. And lebronsn 30 million cap hold. They will still only have a little over 7 million to use.

They arent getting him but serious question:

Can they use their $9.4 trade exception to sign a player bc if they can they could sign him but he would be getting a paycut of at least $10 mil.

I thought it was funny but no chance of happening lol

TRADE exception, not free agent exception. Cannot be combined with a player and can only be used in trade.

I personally don't care if Wade wants to leave for the Cavs or anywhere else.

Assuming Bosh is done, entering next summer with 2 high draft picks ( if we're lottery) and 55-60M in cap space would be A OK with me.

Cavs bench was pretty thin to start.
Already lost Moz and Delly.
Anyone really thinking that hypothetically losing JR and Shump to add Wade is a good thing?

Wait a minute -- "Cavs bench was pretty thin to start".

They lost their #10 and #11 players -- players who did not play significant minutes in the finals (probably 0 minutes in games 6 & 7) ... players that signed for $10M & 16M / year and will become immediate starters on their new teams ... and their "bench was pretty thin to start" ?

I agree their bench looks thin now ... but they don't have a full roster ... obviously they will need to sign or trade for a couple of spots.

It will be interesting to see how they try to pull this off, unless Wade's going to take the MLE.

Lebron's (and JR's) cap holds have the Cavs $26M+ over the cap.

Renouncing JR/Jefferson/Jones/Marion would be the first step, and that leaves them still $13.7M over the cap.

Dumping Shumpert for nothing still leaves them over the cap. Dumping Love could open about $7.5M; dumping Love and Shumpert would open about $17M.

Both players were big in the previous years Finals.
This year, no, but its very situational.
Frye was huge in the playoffs, until the Finals....

Any way you put it, they are losses for the Cavs because they got nothing in return.

If the Cavs dump Love to get Wade I'll literally pee my pants.

Yes, they would have to dump Shump ($10 mil) and use that trade exception in a sign and trade, if he wants close to the $20 mil contract.

Not happening though.

If he wants more than the MLE, that's what will have to be done. Well, or Lebron could leave lol.

Could Wade sign with another team (Denver) then be traded to Cavs?
