Its crazy how good this draft was. Almost any other year Aldon would have it without question. Andy Dalton fans are probably saying the same thing as well.

yes, so far a GOOD draft cause of Miller, Culliver, and Hunter too. IF CK pans out, it'll be a GREAT class.

believe Colin Jones is a solid coverage guy?

If Aldon breaks the rookie sack record he's got it. Don't think Von will be able to.

actually i think both have a chance at doing so.

Record at 14

Smith - 13.5
Miller -11/11.5 i think.....

So yeah, 2 games left, its still out there for them both.

valid arguments for both can be made.... I feel IF Aldon finishes with more sacks vs Miller, he'll win it(should IMO).

Von Miller does have Elvis on the other side rushing too(when healthy) so that does help him somewhat. Where as Aldon has Brooks(for comparisons) and Brooks, ok to good enough as a rusher, isn't a Dummervile type rusher.

Aldon has Justin Smith on his side which opens things up big time, especially for those viscous stunts.

don't know how well Miller plays the run, but that should be factored in? the race shouldn't only be the most sacks, granted thats the largest factor.

a NT could make a huge impact but not have STATS.

Thought i would bring this back up.

Say Aldon breaks the rookie sack record, do you see him winnig? Also what if the Broncos make the playoffs, does that increase Miller chances?

Regardless both cases will help each player, but if Smith breaks the record on Sunday I believe it has to put Aldon in the lead at this point. Im sure if broncos make the playoffs it will also depends on who goes farther and Miller did make the pro bowl.

But honestly it would be hard for the voters to not consider Aldon the winner if he sets the new record. IMO being in the record book is far greater then a fan voted pro bowl. Thoughts?

If Aldon breaks the rookie sack record I think he gets the DROY award. It could be neck and neck but that should put him over.

I might be going total homer here - but I agree with this statement 100%

sorry but i'll have to disagree a little.........Miller's play against the run should be factored in? don't know what it is but IF its good enough, could make a difference?

if Aldon is say 3 sacks ahead of Miller, that should swing it his way. if Aldon is 1 or even 2 ahead, you review overall play.

btw - can Miller break the record too? guessing mathematically possible, but not realistically.

miller has been a vital part of their defense. aldon is a specialist who comes in and disrupts the qb. it's like offensive rookie, newton has the record but he throws the ball up to some talented recievers. the guy without the records might be the best rookie in aj green who has another rookie tossing him the ball. green has no drops this year, just amazing. who would even notice dalton without those big plays green produces?

AJ Green is unbelievably good. Just imagine how many long balls he'd hall in for Alex Smith this year that were thrown in the neighborhood but off-target. As long as the ball is thrown relatively in bounds in his area he'll haul it in.

There was a play that he made a few weeks back where the ball seemed to be overthrown by a good 10 yards and he accelerated through the defense like it was a video game and came up with an awesome diving catch. He'd get those constantly for us.

Fair enough it will be a close one thats for sure. I just see it as being very hard for the voters to not vote for smith considering his name will be gracing the record books if he can get that sack(has been held since 99 very impressive). Miller while also possible for him to pass kearse it will be much harder. Aldon has a chance to surpass it greatly!

Probably have my homer glasses on as well but oh well lol.

2011...A.Smith......SF......Yes........29.......6......35......14......4......0....2.....1.....0

I don't know of any low sack/high tackle canditates that would be considered as well, so if it is between just these two, then I think Aldon would have to set a new Rookie record for sacks to win it based on statistics alone.

Wow, AFC owns DROY. I think Von gets it this year. Hard to argue against a rookie who is starting in the Pro-Bowl. Since, generally, players make it there because of the votes of the coaches and players.

Aldon will just have to go out and win DPOY next season to poop on the guys who wouldn't let him in the Pro-Bowl or wouldn't give him DROY for not being a full-time starter.

ok good, something to use as a guide. again, don't know how Miller plays the run or pass (coverage) for that matter, but just going by these stats. not particularly outstanding for a starter when compared to Aldon's part-time?

if nothing changes Sunday i'd think Aldon has a case? not saying he should win it, but certainly a case.

if Aldon gets another sack and Miller doesn't, then IMO 15 vs 11.5 would be a strong case.

wow i was concerned about smith not having many tackles being a situational pass rusher but suggs and peppers didnt have many either. hard to say how voters will go on this one.
