Columbus on the rise and Detroit is always putting out a competitive team. The East can have 'em.

*happy dance*

If the rumors are true, the first line next year could be Gaborik - Anisimov - Vanek

Can't believe I'm saying this but I really hate that the Blue Jackets are now in the Eastern Conference.

Meawhile, I LOVE that the BlueJackets are moving east.

Holy bargain, Batman. I thought he'd get over 4.

That leaves wiggle room for Bob and one more UFA once the buyouts are done. That only cuts about 1.5 off the 18m in space they had to play with. Bob will get 5 minimum and if they pick up Vanek's 7ish...

Shit that might be enough left for Briere if he'd go... Going east, they will spend to compete.

i do not like the way the blue jackets are shaping up. they traded away all their bad players for the rangers' good players and they have all the draft picks those bad players got them.

Which they will flip for even more good players.

And you DO know that the Jackets didn't only get their good players from the Rangers...

They got a good one from the Kings. Sens, Pens and Blues have contributed too.

And that one from the Flyers.

Agreed, the central division is setting up nicely for the Hawks. A lot of that is because I have no fear of the Blues, always felt like they were overrated.

I'm really looking forward to the jackets flourishing now that I don't have to see them play the Hawks as much.

Tampa Bay looking to move Ryan Malone?!? Okay Stevie Y, how about the following:

Stempniak + 6th pick + 28th pick for Malone + 3rd pick + 33rd pick

I wouldn't take Malone at a $1M cap hit...can you say FRAH-GEE-LAY? Careful, it's I-talian.

Rumor going round that Wiz, Nikitin or Johansen might be able to be had for an appropriate top 6 pick and/or roster player...

Jarmo's plan is to come away with a top 6 forward and that top 6 pick. And he is not sheltering anyone. If it makes sense, he will do it.

How about Wiz + 19 and 2nd round pick for #6 and rights to Kipper should he decide to not retire. If he doesn't unretire, we get the second rounder back next year.

I don't really care one I-O-TA about Malone, but the Flames should take him on if it means exchanging pick 3 for pick 6.

I think it's worth considering, but I wonder if Feaster fears he would be boiled in hot oil if he moved down in this year's draft. I do like both the Wiz and Johansen.

I wouldn't want anything to do with Wiz's contract dash. I think Feaster would take a lot of heat if he acquired him.

It all depends on who's available for Calgary at 6. If Lindholm is off the board would they take Monahan?

A lot of people think they should take Monahan if both he and Lindholm are still available. Actually, even though he's not a centre, a lot of people think the Flames should take Nichushkin if he's available.

They need a bullet in the chamber to land Vanek, and that is allegedly close. I personally think it will be a mistake to lose RyJo, and some GM will be getting a lot of kudos if he pries the kid away. I would expect Johansen or Atkinson to be part of a Vanek deal. Losing either is worrysome.

I think with the talent in this draft spread pretty wide (solid guys all the way down to 20ish) it's less of a risk to move down than most years. I'd actually be just fine with the Jackets standing firm, but Lindholm and Monahan are both pretty much exactly what the Jackets need next year. I think the Jackets have to take that shot.

Feaster is in a good position. The only concern is both Nashville & Carolina could make trades. However, they will probably be able to select one of those players no matter what depending on how high Barkov goes.

According to a league source, the #stlblues have re-signed defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to a four-year contract extension.
