Apparently the Sens are looking to acquire high-priced guys who might become victims of the dropping cap or even of internal budgetary restraints.

How about a Stanley Cup winning, Norris caliber defenseman? An aggressive hitter with an eye for the puck? That's right, for the low, low price of <INSERT ANY DRAFT PICK HERE>, you can have CHRIS PRONGER on your team!

On a more serious note, anyone have any idea where Nichuskin lands in the draft? I saw a story that said he might go as high as third.

If Tampa doesn't take him at 3 I wouldn't be surprised if somebody attempts to trade up to get him at 4. Edmonton at 7 would be interesting since they already have Yakupov. I don't think he lasts beyond the top 10.

Rumors about Carolina in on Letang...but Dreger said that he's likely out of their price range in terms of an extension. Letang just got engaged...going into a final year of a deal...Draft is coming up...Carolina makes sense!

Carolina said they are looking for top 4 defenseman type for the 5th pick in the draft. So, of course the only person who qualifies is Letang.

Ignore the fact that the Jackets have TONS of D (who are much cheaper) and want that 5 pick to keep Calgary from getting Lindholm. Go ahead. Ignore it. Everything on earth is about the Penguins Roster. And all other GMs will do absolutely everything they can to help the Pens out of a contract jam.

I would think the real big players for Carolina's pick are NJD and CBJ. Wisniewski and Tyutin are kinda redundant with Savard and Murray ready to make the team next season. Devils would also LOVE to get two potential stud forwards out of this draft and have plenty of D to spare.

Despite the rumo(u)rs, I don't see Carolina as a likely candidate for Letang unless they move one of their big players first. They've already got a ton of money tied up in a their big contracts for a pair of Staals, Semin, and Skinner up front and Ward in net. And while they could probably afford him from a cap perspective, the 'Canes are not a team that can afford to spend to the ceiling every year.

So sports radio is talking that Claude may be on his way out the door...again.

I don't understand how he did not call a timeout after the tying goal and get the guys focused on the final minute. Anyways I don't know if that should cost him his job.

Changes for the Bruins.

Tuuka is gonna get a big raise. I am thinking 5-6 mill per and around 5 or 6 years.

Horton I think is gone. This is probably his big contract time and he will probably go to the highest bidder. Boston wont be the highest bidder.

Ference. Was a great soldier on defense for us but he has lost at least a step and probably will not get a offer.

Bergeron. Still under contract next year but I would suspect that the Bruins would want to lock him up early and long term.

Peverely 2 year's left I am betting they do the buyout on him and send him packing

Chris Kelly signed to 2016. Buyout ASAP.

Tuukka says starting point is 6 years 39 mil 6.5 per. I imagine he moves lower than that but not too much after this season. What works against him is he is an RFA. If he was a UFA it would be insane after the playoffs he just had.

Horton agree he is going to the highest bidder.

Ference will play somewhere but not in Boston even without Ference the Bruins have Chara, Siedenburg, Boychuck, McQuaid, Krug, Bartkowski, and Hamilton

Bergeron agree they will look to lock him up long term.

Peverly and Kelly they said they will not buy out anyone this morning get ready to see them back

Does anybody have any or heard any outside the box trade scenarios that are actually plausible?

this would have been outside the box ... but the box just got crushed in transit

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,

The NHL on Monday moved to close a loophole left in the allegedly airtight collective bargaining agreement by notifying general managers the league would deem re-signing a player following a trade and a subsequent amnesty buyout as circumvention, and thus would not register the contract, The Post has learned.

It is believed the Lightning and Maple Leafs had discussed such a maneuver regarding Vincent Lecavalier, who has seven years and $45 million remaining on his contract, with the buyout thus worth slightly more than $30 million.

The amnesty buyout period begins Wednesday night at 11:00, and lasts through July 4, one day before the opening of this year’s free agent market.

The clubs theoretically would have concocted a swap in which Tampa Bay would have sent an asset — perhaps a draft pick — to rolling-in-dough Toronto along with Lecavalier, who would have re-signed a more modest deal with the Lightning after being bought out by the Leafs

We sat locked out for HOW long to have the agreement be that easy to break?

If there is evidence that the teams discussed this, both should lose their ability to amnesty buy out anyone. and lose their first rounders this year.

Wow I'm glad the league looked into that before it actually happened. Can you imagine the legal mess if that had happened and the league came down on Tampa and or Toronto.

Hey, I'm just posting the rumors man. :P

I don't think GMs trading for Letang, an extraordinarily talented Dman, is to help the Pens...IF they do trade Letang, I'm pretty much 95% confident a first rounder would be involved. They don't have one, and in this draft, that's no fun.

which leads me to believe someone from the leafs/tbay ran this trade scenario by the league for possible approval and they put the kaibosh on it

Hey, I'm just posting the rumors man. :P

Stop. Reading. Rossi.

Besides, it makes no sense because at around #5 there are three super talented Centers to choose from. Drouin will be gone and Nichuskin is likely to slide and could be had later, if they even want that. drafting fifth really does nothing for the Pens. Unless they want to derp the hell out of it and get Fucale up there.

There's a good chance that Nurse is still on the board at 5, so why would Carolina spend wildly on Letang when Nurse probably makes the team next year and helps immediately. A #4 d man makes more sense for them. I just hope that the Jackets don't give up Nikitin. I'd come to live with it, but Wiz is more expendable, IMO. Given the choice between the two, I'd rather face Wiz than Niki.

I doubt he does but if Nichushkin drops and is anywhere near in range of the Devils I think they need to do just about whatever is neccessary to move up and grab him. He's the exact type of player the Devils need right now and the thought of him playing on a line with Kovy gives me a half chub.

I. Don't. Read. Rossi. I once posted a rumor from him in jest essentially, saying he was just off base. That rumor originated from Dreger, and once again, my comment that it "makes sense" was because a long strain of silly coincidences in the situation. The only hockey reason I see it matching up is because the Pens very likely want a first rounder.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I really hate that the Blue Jackets are now in the Eastern Conference.
