Clarkson is heading for free agency. He's not worth top line money. Love Clarkson, he's an unbelievably versatile player, but he's not a 30 goal scorer. He's a great third liner, solid second liner. Not worth $5+ million that he'll get.

I'd prefer the Devils go after Horton. He's a year younger, legit top 6 winger and has connections to Peter Deboer.

I'm hoping Elias took a hometown discount.

I forgot to mention, trading Clarkson at the deadline wouldn't have been smart since was leading in goals, would have been like 6th on other teams. Plus, we were still in the playoff hunt. In other words, he meant alot to this team but not much to others. We wouldn't have gotten much in return and would have missed the playoffs by alot more. Of course, Cup believes in tanking seasons, so he would have been fine with that
