I guess Uncle Ray can try and make some bidding wars for him, but the other team needs assurances that Tanger would sign a new deal after he's traded.. perhaps a sign and trade..

IAC, it's bad news :(

With the cap going down, the market for him will be a smaller number of teams, especially if he turns down a few offers. He will price himself right out of a job. The worst thing Shero can do to him is leave him in Pitt, make him angry and deal with poor play. It will only hurt the Tang. He will be a trade deadline deal to a non playoff team for whoever Pitt feels they need.

And he'll have to sit there and smile and pretend everything is great because his next contract is gonna depend on it. He goes in, drops off or speaks out, it will be dollars leaving his pocket in UFA. If a team is going to pay him what he wants, they are going to want to see consistency and leadership from him. No matter the circumstances.

"Step right up, folks. Get yer slightly used, moderately expensive NHL players right here at Chuck Fletcher's House of Hockey."

Wild shopping Gilbert

PMB, Cullen all but gone: Clutterbuck 50/50?

Clutterbuck can come to Columbus. There are many places to bury him where no one will find him.

I agree that the cap going down limits things, but for next year he's signed at a reasonable rate, and at the moment that's the only year we're certain will be lower. I know the return may not be exactly what the Pens want, but I don't see him being a deadline day deal unless the return is a guy who can step in and do well for the team right away. The Pens (I'd HOPE) are too competitive to let a big piece go heading toward the playoffs. The longer this goes, the more and more I see a trade happening. You're right though...he needs to perform. I think that, in general, the number of teams that are good trade partners here is limited. Need to have what the Pens need too.

Why would a team trade for Letang knowing he doesn't want to be there and that he won't sign.Don't be naive. Agents are involved with trades all the time. You can be sure that IF Letang get's traded, all the details of his signing with his new team will all be worked out prior to announcing the trade.

What are you even trying to say here? I don't think you really know what you're talking about. You can't be sure about anything in this situation until it actually happens.. so you suggesting I'm being naive is very ironic.

I'm having a discussion about the amount of leverage Shero has compared to a trade he made last season with Jordan Staal. If you don't have something tangible to add to the discussion and just want to throw around insults, kindly don't quote any of my posts, thanks.

He's agreeing with you. I'm not 100% on that. That will help drive up the price of acquiring him, and I'm sure it'll be part of any discussion...but it's not necessary. This deal would still involve a full year of Letang at under $4M

@FSBigBob 8m I would consider trading Letang for a Tim Hortons franchise store a win for Shero and Pittsburgh for years to come

This. Why Pittsburgh doesn't have Timmy Ho's is beyond me.

Blue Jackets' Acton named assistant coach with Oilers

This is good, though. Makes a spot behind the bench for Vinny, maybe as a player/coach.We need his voice to remain with the team.

Way too high. No way on Earth Letang deserves Weber kinda money.

I don't think he even deserves Karlsson kinda money.

I mean Karlsson is on a good deal because he was RFA. But I agree he should temper that. However, the difference is these deals are under the new CBA. Still...the fact that he's asking that much from the team he "wants to stay with"? Yikes.

Put Letang on a team without the high end forwards the Pens have - he's worth maybe half of what he's asking.

That is my thought process on Letang. He has to realize the angle I'm sure Shero and Co. are impressing upon him that he is benefiting from playing with two world-class talents.

No way is he worth north of what Karlsson just recently agreed to with Ottawa. Not surprised he's asking for more, but Shero would be a fool to pay him anything above 7 per, imho.

Apparently Horton wants $6M? Guys have lost it this year. I had heard Dupuis wants $5M. What the heck.

Letang wants a full NTC... not gonna happen for term, dollar amount, and prospects the Pens already have. He knows his replacement is already on the Pens team, for much cheaper, in a few years he would be traded anyway. Up to him, take some money, a partial NTC, play with this team and be traded in a few years to some team he chooses, or get traded now.

That's very true, makes it more difficult to evaluate talent on Pittsburgh. How much room is this guy getting, especially on the PP, as a result of Crosby/Malkin being on the ice?

My opinion on Dupper, if he is not resigned by end of day today, he won't be. The Pens won't offer him more than what Kunitz just got. Perhaps the only sticking point is the 4th year. But Kunitz contract sets the bar for Dupper (for the Pens). Take it or leave it.

I still think Bluejackets is where he'll end up.

I don't think that GMs value that as much as they should though. How many times have we seen guys get PAID with a new team, and then proceed to flop? I happen to think this is how Dupuis will go. Which is sad...I love that guy.

goes to show how little the top guys care about the bottom guys. it kills the lower end salaries. they learned nothing about the lockouts.
