Outfielder prospect P.J. Hilson is heading to San Jose to make his full-season debut. Hilson capped off a breakout year in the complex with a walk-off single to secure the league title last night. He hit .313/.399/.591 with 16 2B, 6 3B, and 9 HR in 56 games.
Dayum…. This kid has been around FOREVER. He was a 6th rounder in the ‘18 draft and has played exclusively in AZ for 4 years now (no ‘20, of course).

He is still only 22, so going into low A in his 22 season isn’t THAT far behind.

Interesting. I'm a bit surprised on this. His 2 AAA appearances weren't awful.

WAG…

Maybe they signed him with understanding that he would be added tomorrow (or at least in the mix over the next few weeks), but now the org wants to look at kids instead of going the vet/compete route?? So keeping him around is pointless at this time.

Again, WAG.

Looks like there are 5 2022 draft picks moving up to San Jose.
True, but not all promotions are the same. Marco Luciano getting promoted is a bigger event than Brandon Martorano getting promoted.

Though it is completely possible that most/all these kids are prospects and not just roster fillers.

The Giants have released OF prospect Franklin Labour. He was signed as an IFA in 2015 and slashed .247/.349/.423 in 6 seasons with the organization.

He hit his wall. I hope he saved enough money from his signing bonus to help jump start his post-baseball life.

Sad to see. He lost some luster last year with Eugene and met his match in AA (where bats go to die). There are just too many outfield prospects that have passed him up. Just wonder why he is the first to go and not Heyward. Jacob must have his brother's defensive reputation.

No risk, possible reward deal. He looks like a total bust, but it doesn’t hurt to kick his tires.

Carson Seymour (Eugene) had a dominant outing last night: 6.1 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 13 strikeouts, and 3 groundouts. The Giants acquired him in the trade that sent Darin Ruf to the Mets earlier this month.

That Ruf trade is mind bottling. 2 nice prospects, a low level young MLB-ready bully arm and a potential starting 1B/3B for a really good pinch hitter.

As much as I was disappointed with the deadline, the trades that WERE made were stellar.

He's having a good year in AAA but he's never been able to produce at the big league level. Guess we'll see what he does for Sacramento. I like him much better than Steele Walker.

Not sure if the trades that were made should make me angry about not shipping out guys like Rodon and Pederson or be content in the possibility that FZ doesn't do big trades where he doesn't get the better end of the deal.

We keep attributing trades to FZ. But shouldn’t we be looking at Harris? He is the GM, after all.

Not necessarily directed to you as much as a general thought directed to all of us (myself included)

Good point. I just don't know how much is decided by FZ versus Harris. But I guess we attributed everything to Evans when he was GM.

Casey Schmitt is peppering the parking lot tonight. That’s Hr #2 in the game — both over back wall
