I knew there was a big one I was forgetting.

I mentioned Hactor, but I think Peter Happy qualifies as a bigger success.

Hmmm...

Maybe they just need to stick to 3B and catchers.

I mean, the fact that EA made it to the bigs is a huge success itself. Though not exactly too impactful just yet.

We've had plenty of success with other teams' Latin America signings recently, though.

Sure, but at that point, they don't count as UDFAs anymore. But we have had some success with those...

Pitching Line: IP-H-ER-R-BB-K-Pitch Count (if applicable)

Sacramento (64-70) WON 3-0

Miguel Olivo 2-4 (.247), 2 R
Ryan Lollis 3-4 (.260), 1 RBI
Ruben Tejada 3-4 (.287), 2B, 1 RBI

Ty Blach (W, 14-7) 7.0-3-0-0-2-9-87 (3.43 ERA). He's really earned a call-up. Excited to see him.
Josh Osich 1.0-1-0-0-0-1-11 (8 for strikes) (1.50 ERA)
Steve Okert 1.0-0-0-0-1-9 (8 for strikes) (4.06 ERA)

We'll probably see all three of these pitchers in 10 days, and Mr. Olivo.

Richmond (55-76) lost 9-3. I feel sorry for these guys. Way too much talent not to be putting up more wins.

Not much going with the bats

Kyle Crick 2.1-2-5-4-4-3-63 (29 for strikes) (5.33 ERA) #DeadWeight

San Jose (66-65) lost 8-7 on back-to-back homeruns in the 9th.

Jonah Arenado 1-5 (.261), HR (17th), 2 RBI, 1 R
Miguel Gomez 3-5 (.254), HR (8th in SJ, 16th overall), 1 RBI, 2 R
Dylan Davis 1-3 (.304), 1 R, 2 BB

Conner Menez 5.2-6-6-6-2-8-80 (6.53 ERA)
Reyes Moronta 0.2-2-2-2-0-2 (2.62 ERA)

Augusta (71-59) lost 7-1 in 6 innings (Rain)

Dillon Dobson 1-2 (.278), 2B, 1 RBI
Bryan Reynolds 1-2 (.429), 1 R, SB (1st)

Michael Connolly 4.1-12-7-5-4-0-89 (2.92 ERA)

Salem-Keizer (29-37) lost 6-4

Ashford Fulmer 2-4 (.299), 3 RBI, E (4th). Played CF
Heath Quinn 1-4 (.332), 2B, BB, 1 R

Matt Krook 4.0-2-3-1-5-7 (5.13 ERA). Pretty typical outing for Krook. No one can touch him (2 hits, 7 Ks), but that's probably because the ball is all over the place (5 walks).

DSL Giants (40-30) WON 8-6

% chance Crick is still on the 40 come next week?

I think it can't be higher than 5%. There is just no point is protecting the guy anymore. If someone claims him, have at it.

I feel like if someone claims him, who cares? It could be best for him, and if the other team can figure him out, congratulations!

San Francisco Giants prospect Ty Blach strikes out nine over seven shutout innings for Sacramento River Cats | MiLB.com News | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball

Ty Blach admitted earlier this season that getting ahead of batters was a challenge. It wasn't a problem on Friday night.

"[Catcher] Miguel Olivo had a great game plan for us going into the game tonight, so we were able to build on that," Blach said. "We were able to execute a lot of pitches early in the counts and put ourselves in good positions to make some good pitches and get some weak contact."

The Giants' No. 23 prospect struck out nine over seven innings, pitching Triple-A Sacramento to a 3-0 blanking of Fresno at Chukchansi Park. He yielded three hits and two walks and threw first-pitch strikes to 22 of the 25 batters he faced.

"I felt I had really good command tonight," Blach said. "I was able to locate my fastball to both sides of the plate. My changeup and slider were good, so whenever you can command three pitches, it's a good thing."

The 25-year-old left-hander had to navigate some rough water in the early going as his errant pickoff attempt put a runner on third in the opening inning. In the second, the Grizzlies threatened after getting back-to-back singles.

"Anytime you make an error, it's a kind of a disappointment as a pitcher," said the 2015 Gold Glove winner. "But it's one of those things you've got to forget about it and you continue to make pitches. Luckily, we were able to limit the damage in the first and work around a couple of hits there in the second and just get into a groove then on."

Apart from the fourth, the 2012 fifth-round pick worked 1-2-3 innings the rest of the way, benefitting from an array of groundouts.

"I threw a lot of fastballs inside and we were getting a lot of guys jammed on them and roll over," Blach said. "We were just setting up them up with a changeup or a slider and then coming in hard on the hands. That was really effective for us tonight."

The Creighton product, who's thrown two complete-game shutouts this season, exited after throwing 62 of 87 pitches for strikes.

"I felt great physically," Blach said. "I felt I could've kept going and I was getting a strong second wind the last three innings, but it's just one of those things where we had some guys who needed to throw. That's Minor League Baseball.

"They did a great job coming in behind me and shutting the door. Josh Osich is a big league rehabber and he's looking great right now. Steven Okert did a great job in the ninth as well."

As a result, Blach improved to 14-7, tying the River Cats' single-season record for wins set by Justin Duchscherer in 2003 and equaled by Graham Godfrey in 2011.

"I think that's a big testament to my teammates, honestly," Blach said, "because as a pitcher, you can't get a win without the team playing well behind you. They've got to play defense and they've got to score you some runs, so all the credit goes to them on that. I'm honored to have that title, but it's a team thing, for sure."

Osich and Okert, the Giants' No. 11 prospect, both allowed a hit and struck out one in one inning, with Okert picking up his third save.

Ryan Lollis and Ruben Tejada had three hits apiece to pace the River Cats offense.

Blach leads the PCL with 14 wins, he leads the PCL in innings pitched (162.2), and he is 3rd in WHIP (1.14)

Sounds better than Crick, and I hope he gets a call up in September.
It would be a head scratcher if he gets passed over.
