Doug Fister retires

good career. wasn't great for the Sox, but he did come up with a few huge starts to help the Sox win the division beating the Indians twice (including a 1-hitter) and a 1-run performance in the Bronx.

From 2011-14 he had a 3.11 ERA, including a 2.41 ERA in 164 innings in 2014. He also had a 3.02 ERA in 56.2 postseason innings.

He pitched better than his record indicated in Seattle. He was a guy that I didn't expect much out of. No crazy fastball, no nasty curve, nothing really overpowering, just really solid pitching.

Enjoy retirement Mister Fister.

Fister ended up traded a second time in yet another one sided trade to the Nats (although the Tigers would've won the trade had they stuck wirh Ray)

But the Tigers definitely bent over the Mariners on that one

There was an unbelievable persistent Tigers troll who came to the ESPN Mariners board after that happened. Think I even remember the name, mikenbig. Kept saying one player the Tigers was gave away was better than the next, what a disaster for the Tigers. You'd think it was the Herschel Walker trade.

There was however a guy on the Tigers board there that kept harping on the Tigers trading for Fister before they ever did it and people kept telling him (including me) to shut up. And then they actually did it and the dude was $.

He definitely called it.

yeah that one never made sense for Seattle but it just goes along the lines of Mariners doing Mariner things

I was simply referring to him being traded for Furbush, not the actual results of the trade

You just encapsulated the Mariners franchise.
