Wanted to hear from different fans if their teams were committed in the offseason and addressed their weaknesses?
So did your team solve its issues and why??
The Ravens had a few weaknesses last year that were exploited time and again. Our most glaring weakness was at cornerback and safety. While we had 6 cornerbacks on IR by the playoffs its not an excuse for not having depth or talent in wait; regarding the safety position we lacked talent and depth. In line behind that issue was at Tight end with the recurring injury to Dennis Pitta and trade of Owen Daniels it was now a deficit.
Ravens solutions:
Cornerback--- with a healthy Jimmy Smith and hopefully La. Webb we have our starting cb's but adding Kyle Arrington to the slot was a major upgrade for us from last year. We also added depth from Detroit Cassius Vaughn to give the Ravens supply of talent with experience. In the draft the Ravens picked up Tre Walker int the 6th round big and strong we shall see if he develops.
I would give the Ravens a B.
Safety--The Ravens picked up Kendrick Lewis from Houston and with Will Hill coming back for a full year is a huge upgrade to Matt Elam who has been a 1st round disappointment to date. I would also say that Terrence Brooks before injury was coming around he is back as well.
I would give the Ravens an A for the upgrade from last year with Will Hill and Lewis starting.
Tight End:
The Ravens picked up MAxx WIlliams in the draft stealing him from the Steelers it was written and supposedly the best pass catching TE in the draft. He is big strong and has been doing well at the OTA's seems like a decent gamble. Crockett Gilmore at 6'6" was a backup rookie last year but came on in the Pittsburgh games scoring on Pitt twice last year including in the playoffs. Originally a blocker has been a beast this year in OTA's with good hands and seperation. Pitta is making his final comeback if he can stay uninjured he will play a big role in Trestmans offense but a gamble to say the least.
I give the Ravens B+
As an after thought with the trade of Torrey Smith the Ravens picked up Perriman in the draft who only missed one ball in OTA's and rookie camp. His hands are subject but his speed is what we missed running a 4.2. They also drafted Waller out of Georgia Tech at 6'6" is doing fantastic early and is being recognized as a really smart player with great hands and route running.
C for replacing Torrey Smith until Perriman and other rookies prove themselves.
