If the Tiger's pitchers stop serving up HR like chef boy r dee serves meatballs... The last thing people are going to be thinking about is Castellanos defense. Because outside of the guaranteed 5-10 losses Ausmus is good for... If the pitching improves... Specifically the back of the rotation and the bullpen... The Tigers are going to win 85+ games next year.
So ausmus loses games, but Nick doesn't?

That is fucking rich.

Fun Facts about the Detroit Tigers last year -

Second to last in the MLB with a save percentage of 58.3%
Led the MLB in HR given up with 193. ( in 2014 they gave up 127 and 2013 they gave up 128... think about that)
Tied for third in blown saves
Led the MLB by a wide margin in triples given up
Tied for 4th worst BAA
4th worst k/bb ratio

I can go on and on and on... None of these stats have anything to do with defense at 3rd base. Pitching was the biggest issue the Tigers had last year... Or lack of pitching. Detroit actually had the 9th best fielding percentage as a team... and were the 7th best as far as errors go. Their offense was actually quite good. They led the league in BA, were 2nd in OBP, and third in OPS. You want to see the Tigers get back to winning the division, and contending for a world series... The answer lies in pitching.. and manager... not in the lineup.

Yes.. Ausmus clearly lost several games by his late inning decision making.. name one game the Tigers lost in 2015 based off the defense of Castellanos...

Keep the BS coming OhioIsCaca
BS? Its called stats... The pitching was the problem.. not the defense.. I can back it up with clear stats.. What ever your problem is.. go get therapy.. or drink a bottle of jack or something...

If you want to explain to me how Castellanos contributed to the Tigers leading the league in HR given up, Triples given up, and sucking ass in just about every pitching category that is independent of defense.. I would love to hear about it.

Triples don't happen from bad defense at third.. just an FYI.

Another fun fact... The Tigers defense was actually 7th in the league in defensive runs saved. And Second to last in ERA independent of fielding.

So... Defense wasn't the problem.. neither was hitting... Or so the stats say. The stats clearly blame pitching for the Tigers issues...

I can think of one 2014 game where Nick flubbed a line drive (the Joe Nathan game smitty mentioned) that cost the team a game. I can't think of any in 2015. Hell, Brandon Inge routinely started double plays by throwing the ball into right-center field, and we all thought of him as a very good defensive 3B.

Huh?

I listed pitching as the number one reason for the Tigers finishing in last. Just yesterday.

Nicky C didn't do his pitchers any favors with his defense. Which, I assume, is one of the factors involved with you thinking he should have stayed in left. (You posted that yesterday. Had to be a reason you don't think he should be at third.)

What's your motivation to deflect away from our sub par defense at the Hot Corner?

What's that got to do with the price of tea in China?
uhhhhh... castellanos plays third base.. its showing he had nothing to do with the tigers pitchers giving up meatball triples... along with all the league leading HR's they served up too.

Who blamed Nick for giving up triples?

Not sure I'm following you here. Are you arguing with me or someone else?

I think Castellanos probably would be better served in LF... He isn't a great defender at 3rd... But you are acting like its a major issue.. Its not. Get over it. The fact you even bring up his defense when on the list of issues the Tigers had last year.. it probably ranks somewhere around #50.

I guess it went over your head... carry on with your bashing of a 23 year old player that had little to do with the Tigers struggles last year.

Sanchez giving up all those brutal homers is one reason why I'm counting on him for nothing.

But I don't blame Nick for the demise of a once promising career.

Sanchez was only one pitcher... Even Price gave up 13 HR while he was a Tiger. The Tigers pitching staff as a whole served up HR...

I got that... When you said you don't think he will improve... nor do you think he will hit enough to make up for it... the added bonus of you bringing up his defense in low A ball cemented it.
