i would not be surprised to see cueto in NY or texas.. they are to big of markets to sit out the entire off season when they both need starting pitching.

I said from the start the tigers gave up way to much for soria.. i never liked that trade.

yeah, I can see that now but still there was no way you could guarantee that Thompson was going to be anything or shall we say will be anything, YET... he has to get to the show and at least be even decent like a #4 or #5. I know scouts said he had the potential to possibly be a #2 maybe and a huge maybe a #1..

lots of IFS in there... it's very difficult for these kids to make it to the show.. probably the most difficult position to make it in all of sports becoming a MLB SP (meaning a #2 or #1)

This is the thing.. when you draft high school arms with high upsides... it takes time for them to get there... Thompson has a big arm. He is dominating AAA. You will see him in Philly next year. I am going to puke if he ends up a legit #2. He never should have been traded.

Thompson has 4 pitches that rate as above average... He is better than any pitcher the Tigers have in the minors... and on par with Norris. If the Tigers had him in the fold..:puke: it makes me want to puke.

Think about this for a second... The Tigers basically could have had Cole Hamels if they didn't trade him for Soria...

the fact that the giants signed a complete turd to a 90 mil deal... a 35 yr old got 15 mil a yr from the dodgers, and all the other ridiculous deals handed out.. I woudn't be surprised at all to see cueto get 25 mil per.

he still has to come to MLB level and prove his worth.. it hasn't happened yet but there's time on his hands to make it happen

DD was willing to roll the dice to buy a WS.. they were close and figured if he got the help needed to pin down his Pen it could've happened and Fans like you and I wouldn't be bitching about the what he shouldn't have done. We'd be celebrating in a WS.............then bitching much later just like old people do just to carry on a convo... I'm doing it right now with you...

You've helped to up my posts dramatically

he isn't reaching 160M total, imo... yes, maybe 5 yrs... that's 125M total IF he gets 25M per... it's possible to get 25M in this market.. lots of scouts and GM's were questioning 5-6 yr deals for him from what I read..

think about this for a nanosecond.. the Tigers could have had Aroldis Chapman if they had Thompson... :thumb:

or they wouldn't have Pelfrey if they had Thompson

So far I like the Zimmerman signing. It wasn't too lofty of a contract. The Maybin deal is average in my book and the Pelfy deal was piss poor.. B- so far..
