I honestly think the Tigers bullpen never would have been the disaster it has been if DD didn't stop guys from moving from being a starter to a bullpen arm. He was so busy trying to keep their value up in the minors that he didn't allow any of them to help the team. Guys like Casey Crosby and Andy Oliver both should have been moved to the pen.. Andy Oliver is working out of the pen now and looks like he might have a career.

Drafting college relievers is a sure fire way to have a crappy farm system. Drafting high upside arms and letting them fill into the role that best fits is how teams like the Royals built their pen.

plus there are guys like that thompson kid he traded for Soria.. he is now a top 50 prospect in the mlb.. and looks like a complete stud for the phillies now.

? Cliff Lee trade ?

meh.. all these youngsters being ranked whatever doesn't mean they'll meet those expectations... Jacob Turner.. Andrew Miller as SP, yes he became a great closer and it took him since 2006 ... he was in the Miggy deal

By the way... By the end of this upcoming season.. the Royals very easily could have a farm system ranked worse than the Tigers... they traded away a ton of talent...

No.. the Tigers traded him to the Rangers for Soria.. And the Rangers traded him to the phillies this year for cole hamels.

i'm not counting all the guys that DD traded that never panned out for anything

if they don't pan out then they were worthless other than some other idiot GM got scammed and was a horrible at diagnosing as a scout

Think about that for a second.. The Tigers traded the kid for a relief pitcher... The Rangers traded him for a front of the rotation starter... The Soria trade was hot garbage.

Jacob Turner is only 24.. and he has had elbow injuries.. There is still a big possibility that he could end up a very useful pitcher. Injuries have derailed him.. not lack of talent.

they won a WS.. but yeah, it will cost them by depleting farm system to buy one, a WS that is

The worst part for them is that all the guys they traded for were rentals... so basically they unloaded 3 of their top 6 prospects for guys that are gone... and the guys that are left really are not that much better than what the Tigers have. MLB rates Fulmer about equal to the Royals top pitching prospect...

The royals are going to pay a high price for that WS... The team is going to have to be ripped apart in a year.. Hosmer, Moustakas, and Cain are free agents after 2017. All of them are going to be mega expensive in arbitration after 2016. KC has no means to replace them.

The Soria trade was hot garbage.

he would make what seemed like a good or decent trade until you get beyond the Sanchez trade... Thompson for Soria seemed like it could be worth it as it was for a set-up guy to get to Nathan.. neither worked out... was it Knebel for Veras ?? either way you slice it DD's trades for RP seemed good or decent on paper as he was trying to win a WS and hoped he found an answer to get rid of Valverde nightmares.. they didn't work out and then looked like absolute dimwit shitty trades and FA signings...

Knebel was apart of the Soria trade with Thompson. Which makes it even worse.. He had a solid season for the Brewers last year.

I've got a suspicion that Cueto ends up back there, NOW.. still rentals helped to get them a WS.. Game 5 by Cueto was a savior

veras was for a outfielder... I think he name is velasquez... he was super young.. like 18... i think he is a fast rising prospect though for houston.

no way KC can afford Cueto.. he turned down a 120 mil contract.. KC can't afford that. He is looking for 160mil+
