you mean beside everything?

He has said we shall see if they are the defense that played yesterday or the defense that gave up some big games soon enough so not sure what he is denying? He was just making conversation since so many have said the Broncos defense sucks this year then they go out and play a great game against the 4th ranked offense in the league.

The facts are the Broncos have played this season without some of their top guys on defense and have struggled in that time. They now get those guys back and play outstanding defense. Now is that going to be who they are moving forward we shall see but when they hit RGIII the most he has been hit all season as soon as Von Miller gets back into the lineup I like the odds of the Broncos actually being who they were yesterday more than who they were at the beginning of the season without Von Miller and all the other guys.

Thanks for trying to set him straight, cd. You'd think that after watching how the Ravens defense improved between the two times that we played them last year he'd have learned more about the capacity of a defense to change its level of play over the course of a season.

I'm not defending the fact that he didn't read the post (which in all reality had very little substance to back up the idea that the Broncos are a bad defense considering all the players that did not play in those games) I'm defending the idea that you seem to have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old and just decided to skip the parts about him saying "We shall see in the coming weeks." This whole topic is just throwing out the question of whether the Broncos defense is going to improve over the 2nd half of the season or not. Considering all the negative talk about the Broncos defense up to this point in the season and then they finally get all of their starters back except one and go out and have a great game against the 4th ranked offense in the NFL leads someone to ask this question.

LOL When I wrote that I didn't read the Dolt fan's post I meant that the statistics that he posted are uninteresting to me, since they reflect what our defense has done in the past. My interest lies in what the defense does going forward. Like I already posted, we will see in two weeks how the Denver defense holds up against Rivers, Gates, Royal, Mathews, et al. They were pretty stellar yesterday. Is is mere coincidence that Von Miller and Wesley Woodyard were both on the field?

right history is irrelevant....got it, continue to plug your ears, and say "we shall see", because doing that makes a conversation great.

No point to feed this troll, all he's going to do is point at the first 7 weeks and say "See, you guys suck." We'll see where our defense stands at season end, because that's all that matters right? And that will be after the meat of our schedule so you can't say "You haven't played anyone." Until then, I'll enjoy the winning, you can enjoy the Ravens not winning.

Wow nice come back. It just so happens to ignore your next post after that where he asks what he is in denial of and you respond with "You mean beside everything" Hmmm sounds like more than just his one post. Can't have your cake and eat it too in this situation.

yea, every post he says they will get better, even thought there is no evidence to support such a claim. He is in denial....it's okay so are you.

There is evidence to back up that they are on pace to start getting better. Now he has said over and over again that "We shall see in a couple of weeks." How is that saying they will for sure get better the rest of the season? And why is it such a crime to expect your team to get better over the course of a season? Sheesh you act like all of us are saying the Broncos are going to win a Super Bowl and anybody who says differently is an idiot. Obviously all of us Bronco fans see there are some problems. The OL is beat up which has caused Peyton to get beat up over the last few games. The Secondary is still prone to give up big plays. TE's still seem to do well against us. All of these things are things Bronco fans see every week and understand that any of these could lead to the Broncos getting eliminated at any point. Every team if looked at objectively has some weaknesses.

Now having said all that yes I expect the Broncos defense to get better as they are finally getting healthy. Is that so hard to fathom? They are getting back a guy that is considered one of the top 3 defensive players in all of the NFL in Von Miller. Why is it so hard to fathom that just that move alone should make them better. They have now gotten back the captain on the defense in Wesley Woodyard who makes all the calls on the field. Why is it so hard to fathom that they should get better having the team leader and guy that makes all the calls and is a pretty darn good playmaker in his own right back on the field? Now do these two guys all of a sudden make them an elite defense...Obviously no. The Broncos have a long way to go before anybody could even think about throwing those words out there. They should however improve and yesterday showed a glimpse of the possibility that that is true.

The Denver defense sucks right now and there are no signs of the getting better, but i don't expect you to agree with me because well you're a Denver fan and that understandable but don't sit there and deny facts and act like they don't matter, because that's BULLSHIT....But you have fun playing homer, the rest of us will be right here to bring you back down into reality.

Of course history isn't always irrelevant, but sometimes it is. That's why I offered up the historical example of the Ravens defense playing so poorly against Denver during the regular season in Baltimore and then playing so much better in the playoff game in Denver.

Are you still with me? LOL

Who is "We?" You seem to be the only one thinking this. And there is no denying facts here. I understand the Broncos defense has not played up to par up to this point in the season. They have been playing though with quite a few back ups for almost the entire season. I hope you understand that back ups are back ups because they are not as good as the starters. So now the Bronco starters finally get healed up and off of suspension and guess what the defense gets better. How crazy is that. They held RGIII and the Redskins to their lowest offensive output all season long. How about that for stats.

This defense was top 5 in almost every single category last year on defense and it is not like they lost a whole lot of big time playmakers but maybe Dumervil. They replaced his talent with Phillips who had just about as good of a season last year as Dumervil and added guys like DRC, Knighton, and Ihenacho to the defense so on paper they should be a goo defense. Again though injuries and suspensions impact a team. Now all of a sudden they get those guys back and guess what they play like a top 5 defense once again. Now again yes this is one game so they still have a long ways to go but it is not crazy for Bronco fans and others to think the Bronco defense could actually get better as the season goes along.

You are also looking at all those games through the idea that the players we have on the field now are the same players that played in those games. You are making a blanket statement in assuming that even though Von Miller, Ayers, Woodyard, and eventually Champ are back that they are going to be the same defense they were before. Most of those games were played with all of those guys missing and that is a lot of production to be gone off the field. Yesterday was a great showing of what this defense can do with Von Miller and Woodyard especially back on the field in getting that pressure on a quarterback and forcing turnovers.

Injuries are part of the game. The Chargers lost Ingram and Freeney for the year and haven't allowed a TD since October 6th. The bench has way outperformed expectations. Sure having those guys healthy (or eligible in Miller's case) helps, and it certainly isn't good for my team that they get to rest up for a week, but depth is key. The Chargers' depth on defense has been a huge surprise.

I understand depth is important but when you are missing the 2 main pieces of your defense in Woodyard (defensive captain and playcaller) and Von Miller (considered top 3 defensive player in the NFL) that is a whole lot of talent missing from the field. Now add in the other guys in Champ Bailey, Robert Ayers, Chris Harris, and others and all of a sudden the Broncos at times had more back ups on the field than actual starters. This was the case in the Cowboys game where at times their top 3 corners were missing, their top 3 pass rushers were missing, and their defensive captain was missing. That is 7 of their top guys on defense not in the game. I don't know many teams that would be able to overcome that.

The defense only gave up 14 points yesterday (7 came off a pick 6), and 7 of those were off a 19 yard drive. The Broncos had given up the most passes over 20 yards in the NFL, and yesterday they gave up zero. The Broncos had the worst pass defense in the NFL, and yesterday they allowed 154 passing yards.

Now you're right in it was only one game, but to say they haven't shown signs of getting better is just ignorant.

call me ignorant then because i saw many times where RG3 missed a wide open receiver that got behind the Denver defense over threw receivers that got behind the defense, and threw passes behind receivers. Sorry i think RG3 had a bad day and the defense didn't have anything to do with that.

I suppose the fact that he was getting hit constantly had nothing to do with RG3's poor play, right?
