Garoppolo is due $25.55M this season. If he's good enough to warrant that money on a team without Lance then there's no reason to cut him. At this point Lance hasn't proved anything and the Draft resources invested in him are a spent cost. If Lance isn't good enough to be a starter then Garoppolo stays and it isn't even a discussion point for the 49ers. If Lance looks like a starter in camp then it becomes a different story.

there is no way I give up a 1st for Deebo.
A. the one thing that gives him his worth to an OC is the one thing he is bitching about doing.
B. High Quality 1st round WRs come every season. What makes them even more worthy is they are cheap for 5 years. Whoever Deebo would go to would have to instantly pay high dollars for him. & there is No fucking way someone gives 2 1sts for him. Now add in he has only one season of this nature. DCs adapt. he does this a second year in a row & he might have a desperate suitor.

It's supposed to be a Godfather offer so I'd guess #10, 2nd, and a future 1st. With the 9ers maybe throwing in a 4th or 5th to go with Deebo.

All that for the right to give him a huge extension, or stay put and draft Jameson Williams (or WR of your choice) and keep your extra picks.

That team has too many holes to be throwing multiple assets at a WR IMO. Pretty expensive way to hasten the process on Wilson.

I agree with this and believe it's a very real possibility that Lance is not ready and never will be the QB they envisioned. As you said he hasn't proven a damn thing and first round QB busts happen more times than not. I think they should absolutely keep Jimmy until Lance proves himself.

The market has been set more or less with the Adams trade. The Jets wont offer much more than the #10 overall worth of value.

I would love to keep him but I wouldn't hate to trade him since he's a guy that can struggle to stay healthy.

And no doubt he'd be a loss I do think guys like Aiyuk and even Kittle have room to pick up the slack. Kittle had a monster year for a TE the year before Deebo was drafted and Aiyuk just needs a better QB to throw him the ball mainly one that can hit outside the numbers.

I don't think this is an issue of usage or Trey Lance being the starter but it all boils down to money and the 9ers aren't a team that rushes out and offers extensions asap and it's been said they haven't even made an offer yet so I see this as a pay me or trade me move.
Played in 15, 7 and 16 games.

1 season where he got hurt and missed half the season. Not exactly injury prone.

Deebo Samuel injury history

Deebo Samuel groin injury, 2021

Samuel suffered what appeared to be a minor groin injury in the 49ers’ Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Deebo Samuel hamstring injuries, 2020

Perhaps it had something to do with his fractured foot earlier during the year, but Samuel unfortunately has dealt with hamstring injuries for much of his playing days, including dating back to his collegiate years at South Carolina.

In 2020, Samuel dealt with two specific Grade 2 hamstring strains, the first coming just before halftime in Week 7 against the New England Patriots on a questionable rush play. The injury forced him out for three games, although Samuel returned for another three weeks before reaggravating the injury in Week 14 versus the Washington Football Team, which subsequently ended his season.

Deebo Samuel foot fracture, 2020

The biggest concern of Samuel’s pro career to date was that offseason Jones fracture early in 2020.

During an impromptu workout with fellow Niners teammates, Samuel suffered the injury and required offseason surgery, which resulted in him missing all of training camp and also the first three games of the regular season.

Samuel recovered well from the injury, as Jones fractures aren’t necessarily easy to heal from. Yet there’s the chance his subsequent injuries were related.

Deebo Samuel groin strain, 2019

Samuel suffered a Grade 2 groin strain against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5 and missed the following week’s game against Washington.

Deebo Samuel broken leg, 2017

One of Samuel’s most devastating injuries came in Week 3 during his junior year in a game versus Kentucky where he suffered a broken fibula in his right leg.

This ended his season, unfortunately, but not before Samuel registered an impressive 280 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns before suffering the injury.

Deebo Samuel hamstring strain, 2016

Nagging hamstring injuries from the previous year forced Samuel to miss three of South Carolina’s 13 games in 2016, yet he still managed 881 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns.

Deebo Samuel hamstring strain, 2015

The hamstring issues Samuel had dealt with go all the way back to his freshman season with the Gamecocks, where he missed a total of seven games because of a Grade 2 strain. He suffered the injury during South Carolina’s first week of the season.

He doesn't make sense for the Lions or Jets. They need to draft players on their timeline.

GB should be going after him after losing Adams.

And he's still played in 13 games per season. On average.

Yeah no thanks. I'm not giving up the #10 and future picks for him + paying him $25M/year.

GB should think about it though after losing Adams.

They have a 2-3 year window to try and win with Rodgers.

He's just 26. However.....I do agree with him not wanting to run the ball as much because that will shorten his career.
He doesn't want to be paid on how he performed in 2019, he doesn't want to be paid off how he performed in 2020, he wants to be paid as if 2021 will be his norm going forward and with his injury history that seems unlikely and a huge risk for who ever gives him a contract comparable to elite WRs who had multiple elite seasons.

When Kirk got paid.....it's just a matter of time for Samuel.

Kirk seems to have fucked up the WR market.
