OK so Atlanta won, so that's 2 system games tomorrow. Washington lost so that's another. If Oakland wins today that's 4.

The system says Atlanta wins again, Washington loses again, and Baltimore loses again tomorrow.

Gore against the Marlins and their unnamed starter would be quite the system feat

It's a process, doesn't depend on any one game lol

And didn't Shane figure out the system works a lot better when teams break out of losing streaks than winning ones?

I could probably look into to it but seems easier to leverage the collective mind that is the internet and the Hoop lol (flattery to start, ok here we go...)

On the Giants game thread I brought this up...my dad has a baseball gambling 'system' (really a trick) that he thinks is real. After a team has a long losing or winning streak, 5+ games, when they break the streak, they repeat that last outcome the next game. So you win a game to break a 5+ game losing streak, you bet on them to win again the next day. And vice versa for winning streaks breaking.

Worked tonight for the Giants...better work tomorrow for the White Sox who tonight ended a 15 game losing streak, longest in a franchise started in 1900's history (but I'm not bitter)

Anyhoo the question is: can we test this idea? Even if it works 55-58% of the time that's a huge gambler's edge. My rudimentary understanding of gambling (I am not a sports gambler, I don't even do vcash bets lol) is that a simple system like that would eventually have the edge go away as the odds reflect it, the bookies would know to pay out less on those games until the expected payout matches other games and the system doesn't work...is that a thing? Or can we band together as Hooplans and go stack some cheddar?
It might work--- I would say looking at the next day's starting pitcher is crucial as well.

OK looks like the system went 1-1 today, with the predicted Braves win. Washington was supposed to lose.

Almost 2-1 but the Orioles tied it up in extras so still up in the air there (they need to lose according to the system)

10-2 in June with that game pending

Used a bit of this data today (parlayed an ATL win) to take home about 100 real world dollars, but yeah, more obvious factors also come into play.

CWS: Last 4 games before today were L-L-L-W, and they are undoubtedly a terrible team. So to fit the system, let's say they lost the 2 games prior to the first loss, won the last game @SEA, which they did, then today's game @AZ should be a win. They got walloped, as they are want to do, and as any bettor should expect. So I'm definitely taking way more into account in the real world than just this system. I only went ATL because they actually have talent, and were then facing an inferior team in TB.

IMO just too many better variables to consider than to wait for a team to find a 5 game streak. Why 5 games, and not 4 anyway? Why not 3 or 6? Just seems arbitrary.

It is arbitrary. 4 is too short and happens too often, the streak has to be long enough to have the supposed psychological effect.

If I were betting real money I too would use this just to highlight games that might be good to bet, but then look at other factors. One factor discovered upthread is doing this after losing streaks end might have better odds than winning streaks ending.

As far as the White Sox, after losing a historically long streak of 14 games, they won the next 2 so the system worked for them too that time.

A's pulling off two straight vs KC would be the ultimate test to the system.

Today both the As winning and the Marlins winning are system predictions...both will be tough

But as Stakes showed, losing streaks ending seem to have a better record than winning ones so we'll see

Both pretty good sized underdogs. If you split, it's a pretty good day.

Buncha long streaks broke today. Tomorrow the system games are Twins to lose again, Padres to win again. On Friday (these teams are off tomorrow) it's Mets to lose, Rangers to win
