I would love for him to stay at Baylor and build a consistent team, but the odds of that are slim. They'll never recruit as well as Oklahoma or Texas. They might have a couple of years like these past two, where they surprise lots of people, but no way they can sustain it at a smaller private university

Reminds of Memphis football...similar type football programs, but Baylor is in a power5. Baylor being in football rich TX but competing with the major powers, every now and then will field a team that has 2 or 3 kids that get drafted fairly high, and they go on a nice run where they win 9 to 11 in a season or two. Then they go back to winning 7 or 8 games for 3 or 4 years.

Memphis itself is a strong recruiting base, but the big SEC schools typically get to top local prospects. Every now and then, you get a couple of draft worthy players and they go on a run like this year.

Rodgers has thrown only 6 INT's the past 2 seasons combined. Almost 1200 passes with 6 INT's. I'd like him to manage the games for the Colts.

Even with those low INT numbers, Rodgers (21st) and Brissett (20th) had nearly identical QBRs: 50.4 to Brissett's 50.6. In passer rating, Rodgers has the advantage 95.4 to 88, but is still only 12th in the league. Rodgers' 7 yards per completion was 18th in the league, average at best.

Yeah, I'm not sure what Dallas'ers want. You hated Garrett, he's gone. Now you don't care for the replacement and he hasn't even moved into the office. Who else were you going to get that would be willing to put up with GM Jones?

Just accept your mediocrity, or something.

I'm not sure who they were expecting. Did they think they were getting Belichick?

Rodgers was better in every statistical category. Brissett is very bad.
Sure he's regressing a bit after 15 years in the league, but he's still very good.

He's a little above average now, and his stats bear that out. He does have a habit of a handful of impressive plays covering up 3.5 quarters of uninspiring production though, and has done a great job of avoiding turnovers. His receivers haven't necessarily helped a lot (injuries and overall talent wise).

Completion percentage: 62% (21st)
Completions: 353 (9th)
Attempts: 569 (8th)
Passing Yardage: 4002 (11th)
Yards Per Completion: 7 (17th)
Yards Per Game: 250.1 (16th)
Passing TDs: 26 (8th)
INTs: 4 (tied for 1st)
Fumbles Lost: 4 (tied for 10th most)
Sacks: 36 (14th worst)
QBR: 50.4 (21st)
RTG: 95.4 (12th)

I'm surprised that Cowboys (read, "JJ") did not cast a wider interview net for the head coaching job.

McCarthy is a solid if not exceptional choice.
This is exactly how I feel. I think JJ panicked and thought the Giants were about to sign him. I don't see any other way that not kicking the tires on a few other guys was the smart move. I'm happy with McCarthy, but think they were a little too impulsive

As far as vs Brissett, we're talking about a backup QB by intent until Luck retired. The fact that his QBR is about the same as Rodgers is not a compliment to Rodgers.

I wouldn't want Wade in Dallas again, but you don't go off of just the last year of a coaches resume, if you did then your boy Mike wouldn't be the Dallas HC.

As a Rams fan, I've grown frustrated with the back-to-back old school defensive coaches (Wade and Gregg Williams). Too many CBs giving up big cushions while the DL attacks the QB without defending the run well. As great as Aaron Donald is, you need SOMEONE on the DL to plug the running game and not just pass rush.

Rodgers was not expected to carry the team under LaFleur's offensive system.

His stats are virtually the same as last year though (with about 30 fewer attempts).
Rodgers has a stud RB in Aaron Jones so he doesn't need to be Superman anymore.

I absolutely want a DC that thinks like Wade. We need a more attacking style. It was why I wanted to look at Martindale as our HC. The issue is Wade is a 3-4 guy and I just don't know if that is going to be a good idea. On passing downs which is about half of the downs Wade plays a straight attacking 4-3 (or at least he did in Dallas) so no issue there. But on early downs are we set up to play a 3-4? It mostly comes down to Tank and if he can be a 3-4 OLB because you aren't switching to a defense that minimizes your best defender and he can't play DE in a 3-4. I won't go player by player or position by position here but I think the flexibility is probably there other than what you do with Lawrence and a couple of players that are poor fits. Although, we don't have a dominant 3 Tech to run Marinelli's 4-3 successfully any way, so maybe it doesn't matter as much as I am thinking.

I don't remember about Nolan. Does he run an aggressive, attacking defense?
