LOL. I was hoping you'd say that because I'm jealous of how the Patriots' great run of success has now eclipsed the '80s to '90s Niners run of success. Sadly, the Niners are only second place now. I want to believe that the Saints, Falcons, Rams, and later the Panthers were stiffer competition for the Niners in their glory days than the AFC East has been for the Pats the last 20 years, but maybe I'm wrong.

I do think that playing in a division with the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins has been an advantage for the Pats, but I absolutely believe in Belichick's greatness. McCarthy not so much. Plus, McCarthy has only won one Super Bowl, while Belichick has 6.

Not my choice, but I'll accept it as I wanted The Clapper out. Also if you take into account it appeared Dallas wanted a coach with NFL HC experience McCarthy was probably the best choice.

Pretty much how I looked at him as a candidate here.

Though usual complainers are freaking out we didn't get him.

Well to be honest it looked like the whole defense quit for the Bears game. The team has talent IMO, now we need to see if it can be up enough to win games. I know I and many others blame Garrett for the lack of direction the team sometimes shows, but how is it a bunch of grown men being paid $$$$ to play a game need to be motivated by another man? Self pride should have gained this team another win or two regardless of who the coach was.

Yeah, it's a common thread in all the articles I've read recently about the Cowboys' coaching situation. All the articles assume that the Cowboys have a very talented roster. How much has Jerry paid these journalists? LOL.

Ted Thompson did a poor job of drafting in his final three years at Green Bay. He also never signed any big name free agents.

Doug Pederson was widely panned as a hire by the Eagles. Two years later he was a Super Bowl champ. I don't think he is a great coach by any measure, but he proved very competent, and in hindsight that should not have been shocking given that he played under Shula, Holmgren and Reid and coached under Reid.
