Would he even be an upgrade? He has Raiders written all over him.

I dunno about the Raiders .....

But not like he was all that good of a player in Miami. You really want to bring those issues to Dallas for depth?

Not me

Did I miss a discussion on the backfield? Since you brought it up, Dunbar is a game breaker to me. Is he McCoy? No, but who is? I absolutely love Sproles and have for years. You guys will see that Sproles has lost a little of his shiftiness and he is not a game breaker. Still an amazing receiver and good player, but IMO his game breaking days are done. Even last year he started to lose snaps and targets to others on 3rd downs. Yeah, he still had 71 catches, but Thomas had 77.

My point is RB's are a part of the Eagles receiving game, so you have to include them in their weapons. As far a Dunbar at this point is all hope, it does no good to break a big run only to fumble or get hurt in the process..........

"The other problem I have with a burner (and I know I'm about to get 100 comments on this): Romo sucks on the go route". I agree 100% Jarntt we saw that every time Dez got open deep last season so that kind of kills by argument in wanting a burner too. I know this is true, but I still won't that threat because a burner can turn a hitch or a screen into a huge play to i.e. Austin with the Rams or Peterson with the Vikes.

Id rather have a great route runner than a "burner" anyday of the week and twice on Sundays

Yeah and we have Witten. We also have a great WR, they don't. Our #2 WR would be their #1 until Maclin proves healthy.

I'm not overly concerned with Dunbar fumbling at this point. He lost one offensive fumble last year. I know it wasn't in a lot of chances, but I'm not ready to label him. Also, watch how quick and shifty he is. It was a travesty we didn't use him more last year. My only concern with him is health and since I only see 5-10 touches a game max, I am not overly concerned with that either.

I know it's preseason and I know it's ONE PLAY, but this is game breaking ability. You either have it or you don't:

Don't get me started on this team using offensive weapons, they don't even give Murray enough touches. Good luck with Dunbar......

I'm torn. I want a "burner", but I also want another big huge target like Dez. Look at what Chi can do with both of their big WRs. The other problem I have with a burner (and I know I'm about to get 100 comments on this): Romo sucks on the go route. It isn't about arm strength because he does hit the depp crossing patterns and deep outs. He just doesn't seem to be able to hit that one; maybe it's timing. How many times does our WR get a step on the defense and he just misses him. Those are huge plays. Don't take this as an anti-Romo comment because it's not, but it has IMO been a weakness in his game for years from where I sit. In the NFL if the WR gets a step or two behind the defense you need to hit him in stride more often than not.

I agree, arm strength isn't Romos strength, but still having that presence on the field or even taking shots will open things up. I just feel having a burner would add a different element to the team, kind of like Dunbar does when he's on the field.

Now, in no way would I be mad if we picked up another 6'3+ guy.

:agree: but its nice to have a guy can take it to the house. I want at least one homerun hitter on the roster to stress the defense out.

I think we have enough of those........

at any point Dez can break a tackle and take it
Murray has proven he can as well
Dunbar if we can keep him healthy
Williams looked like an Alvin Harper type last year and I expect him to improve

I just don't think you throw speed on the field just to say it's there. Never worked for Al Davis
and cost us a 1st round pick in Jones

Now where I like Watkins is ... He has the speed .... but he also has the hands can run routes can run block and can lower a shoulder and run over Dbs ..... so total package to me (which is why Im so high on him)
But nah I don't see a pure speed guy helping this offense. Not unless you can clone Moss and have a 6'6 guy that just goes long and out jumps everyone for the ball

I'm not sure probably high 4.4 low 4.5 guy, don't know if he's regarded as a speed guy though. To answer your question I don't know.

I kinda hate questions like that

Cause no one runs a 40 in the NFL

you have to make a move ..... only a poor defender just lets you run right past him..... It takes THAT MOVE sometimes a DOUBLE MOVE ...... but if it gets you open and you are a good YAC guy .... what does 40 speed have to do with it .... most times you have to make 2-3 moves after to ball is in your hands to take one the distance anyway

Different argument. I can't contest that one...

you can answer with football speed :noidea:

I have seen him go deep for us last year. I just really dont know what I think of the guy.
There were times I see him make a play & think wow, that was a great play. Other times I think what the hell is he doing? he was one player I could never really tell if I liked him or not LOL.
Late in the season he did improve though. So I do see the potential. Unfortunately I saw a lot of the youth/inexperience in him as well.
As far as burners go. We have 80 late round picks it seems. I am ok with wasting one on a very fast guy late in the draft & see if we can develope him. Dont want to waste a higher pick on a WR though unless he is a well rounded WR (or so the scouts would think)
I always think of burners as a compliment to starting WRs. Not the star of the receiving corp. The burners that are stars, I dont consider burners because they are well rounded WRs.
Example: Harper was a good compliment to Irvin. Could never be a #1, but if you doubled or trippled Irvin one to many times Harper would make the defense pay. Would love to see that scenario here. Just dont want to use a high draft pick in this draft to do it. Which is why I was asking how fast Williams was. I dont know what Harpers 40 time was, but I know he was a major deep threat!

Fast enough to get behind everyone a bunch of times per year...I'll use him to highlight my thinking on accuracy deep versus pure speed. His very first pass of the year he gets open deep for a TD and Romo misses him. Then his last catch of the year he is open deep and Orton underthrows him for a long completion, but no TD. Last ball attemtped to him for the year Orton misses him deep.

Williams ran a 4.52. Decent speed. I would like us to draft his former teammate Terrence Reese

I wouldn't be opposed to it ......

After all Baylor is being called Wide Receiver U

but only if it's 4th round and Murray isn't there

The Giants, Cowboys, and Jets are expected to express interest in Chris Johnson once he's released.
