Cowboys had Tampa Bay OG Davin Joseph in for an interview. Joseph is 30, and was hampered by injuries the last couple of years and was ineffective. Would be a worthwhile pickup if the money is right, Tampa would have kept him if the money were right, and the guy might have been one of the top 2-3 guards in the league a few years back

I don't see Evans as a splash. Only splashes I can as possibilities are Manziel or a big trade up. Neither make sense so they are very much possible. I believe I'm in the minority but I like Evans. He gives the QB a nice target who you can throw the ball high where only Evans can catch it. Yes he's a slow WR but he catches everything and you don't need speed after you catch the ball in the end zone.

Please don't take this as me wanting Evans at 16. We have much bigger needs elsewhere.

:agree: I also like Evans and think he's going to be a player; We need defense in the worse way. I like the draft that has us taking Barr as a DE on NFL net work, but I wouldn't be made if we took Evans. I think he will be a player.

Barr has to add a lot of weight to be a DE. He is a linebacker to me.

I would put him at SOLB and play a little more size on the DL in the base D and move him to DE in the nickel, but I can see him at weak side DE as well. He is already Ware's size and he is what 21, 22 years old? Probably ends up in the low 260s after we get him in our "hamstring pulling" conditioning program...

How big is Freeney? Wasn't he always thought of to be undersized? I think he has the raw skill to do it Barr that is. A lot of the so call experts that think he can make the conversion also says he has very "violent hands" which will aid him at the point of attack.

I am not sure about Barr being a top 10 pick. Yes he makes lots of splash plays and is very quick. I don't see him as the next ware. That gregory kid at nebraska does remind me of ware

That's what caught my eye, other than the fact that I think he will end up as the best defender picked in this draft. Rod had Jerry's ear last year, and I think he will again if this kid slides. He is 6'4'', played at 248 after playing RB when he first got to UCLA. This kid grows into 265-270 with no problem within a few years

is Barr only a pass rusher? Does he have no other LBing skills?
248 & super fast sounds like a good LB to me.
(I obviously dont know anything on this guy)

I am just asking the question. I don't know. I read that he needs to put on weight to be a DE. Sheesh this board sometimes.

You are asking a valid question, as Rod is the only DC I've heard say he likes him as a DE. Most boards have him as an OLB in a 3-4, but this kid could put on weight without a doubt. As I said, he played RB his first couple of years, and then had double figure sacks his first two years on D. Crazy potential, the kid is yoked up, so adding 20 should be no problem on a 6'4'' 21 year old

I'm guessing no one sees him as the next Ware or he would be an absolute lock to go #1

I hope 15 other teams are turned off by Clowney. As a matter of fact let's start some rumors and see what happens. I heard he was a gay, racist, druggie that hits his girlfriend and looks at her son the wrong way. Oh, he also knocked his Mom's baseball cap off her head...

In a 3-4 he is no doubt an OLB to me, but we don't play that. 4-3 is where I see him going either way. I get both arguments. His value is rushing the passer. So as long as you have him doing that in the nickel I'm not sure it matters too much and in the nickel most teams play it the same way (especially the last guy on the line on the weak side) regardless of what position name they assign to the guy. Marinelli looks more for quicker penetrating guys, so it would make sense in that type of a defense he would be a DE. I think if you think the kid is a big time player, you take him and figure it out later. Every defense needs pass rushers and I think he is going to be a good one.
