Gets even better if it means that Orton is retiring and freeing more money.

Orton's guaranteed money still is accounted for in a retirement, just as it would be if we cut him this year. This the savings is just about 1MM on this years cap. This is just an insurance move if Orton does retire nothing to do with the cap.

Scratch that, I think I am dead wrong. He would have to pay back 3MM of guaranteed money if he retires. Meaning I believe a 4MM relief for us. Hell if I know, the days have been running together for me like crazy lately, to much work not enough sleep, and arguing with the misses doesn't help. Anyways I think imma take a break from the forums for a day or two, concentrate on life and get a breather in. I'm out of it right now.

Just read Rex is pissed he didn't get a top CB in free agency & Mo could be a target for a trade. What would you take for Mo? I would like a first but that is not likely, I guess a second would do, if we not gonna usr him right as a press corner..

On his worst day, Nets knows more about the game than you, hateful turd

Give ya a hint hoss

When Pday decides to not treat you like a joke.......

One of the smartest football men you will ever see. If he wont debate you ..... He dont respect you
Took me awhile to learn that ...... But when he talks football .... I PAY ATTENTION

He's solid as they get.... He just has a fuck it attitude with nothing to prove

Orton keeps his signing bonus regardless of whether he stays or retires. From a cap perspective it must be accounted for at some stage. If he leaves the Cowboys before June 1st he'll count as $3M towards the cap in 2014. If he leaves after June 1st but before the season starts he'll count as $1,127,500 in 2014, (assuming his roster/workout bonus is June 1st), and $2M in 2015. If he leaves after being on the roster for the 1st game he'll count as $4,377,500 in 2014 and $2M in 2015.

Then again I could be wrong. I don't know of any player, (other than Vick), who has had to repay a signing bonus.

If he retires on his own .... he either has to pay back or doesnt collect

If he retires due to injury ... ( depending on how the contract is written) Majority of the time ..... He is either for-going the money or has to pay back

7 minutes to doubt yourself after such a cocksure comment on the topic? I wish people would just stop acting like everything they say is 100% right with no grey area. 90% of what is said on here is opinion, but people get all bent out of shape if someone else has a different one...

This is why I don't post much during the offseason, to many know it all posters. I love the sport, but will be the first to tell you I don't know much about the money part of it. I read the comments everyday, but sometimes don't post for days. I love how so many people get bent out of shape and get in a knock down drag out fight over who is right or wrong. Funny thing is, no matter what happens, it won't put a dime in any of our pockets.
