makes sense, you get a new 'regime' in now and let them master plan. they have a good start with the #1 pick. their fans will just have to think rebuild, not expect instant success.

get more ammo by trading Payton Manning.

Let's just say I no longer have qualms about Luck going to Indy.

Colonel Sanders is blowing it up?

When is the last time two teams completely blew it up?

They have to work Peyton's contract to trade him. He's going to be very difficult to trade.

Caldwell should be fired and the Colts can cut Manning to save 28 million. Not sure how much he will bring in trade with the questions about his health.

No, I think it's almost a given he won't be.

Trading Peyton no matter what they do with Andrew Luck would be dumb to me. Sounds like Isray is making the decision to keep Peyton then.

Reports are there was friction between Irsay and the Polians. It was implied that what to do with Peyton was part of the friction. Irsay is pro-Payton so I would suspect the odds have increased he'll stay. I believe the link is on Pro Football Talk....

To clarify, it's virtually impossible to trade Peyton.

The new league year starts March 13. Peyton is due a 28M bonus on March 8.

If he is still on the Colts roster March 8, they pay him $28M. He cannot be traded until March 13.

In theory, the Colts and Manning could agree to postpone the bonus so they could try to trade him, but then whatever team trades for him inherits that bonus on the new due date. This would make him harder to trade. Particularly considering that all teams would know the date the bonus is due and would likely not trade for him until that date had passed.

If Indy ends up paying the bonus, he becomes virtually untrade-able because of the cap hit the Colts would endure.
