Andy Reid on verge of agreement with Kansas City Chiefs -- sources - ESPN

While Reid has a warm relationship with Pioli, sources said it is highly unlikely that the former Eagles coach will build his front office with the Chiefs' GM on board if the deal gets done with Hunt. The same sources insist Reid did not demand that former Browns GM Tom Heckert had to be a package deal as the team's future general manager because he still wants to gauge whether John Dorsey, the Packers' director of operations, would consider the position of GM, the sources added.

Jason La Canfora: Packers exec John Dorsey interviewing with Jets this weekend and has strong shot to get GM job with Andy Reid in KC

Jason La Canfora:

With the Jags GM search, continue to hear that Dave Caldwell (ATL) was very impressive in meetings. Many execs believe he'll get that job

How can KC hire Reid when they haven't interviewed the requisite black candidate?

Good point...maybe Reid gets a pass because of his long history of having a black starting quarterback.

How could any self-respecting black candidate show up there for an interview knowing it was a sham? Such a silly rule.

One of the quotes said the first candidate they interviewed was black. Yeah, what a total joke. I would think that most black candidates who know they don't have a shot must be really insulted when they get the invite to go through the motions of the process.

Enough people have come out in support of the Rooney Rule in order for it to continue into the future, in my opinion.

The people who come out in support of the rule who offer up evidence against the idea that it's a sham or what not say that it gives a candidate interview experience, it allows a relationship to develop, which if something didn't work out at the time, it can and sometimes does down the road in other capacities. How a coach interviews often spreads around the NFL from organization to organization. It puts their name in the spotlight a little more, supporters of the Rooney Rule have argued in the past.

Mike Tomlin was once called a "token interview" but did so well that his name circulated in league circles, which led to getting an interview with the Steelers and then being named coach there.

People will still poke holes in it because it's easy for a common fan to look at it simplistically and there are enough things there for people to say this or that, but as I said there is enough support and thought among those in the NFL that it helps candidates that I think it'll be around for a while. Will they continue to look at the rule and maybe tweak something down the road? Possibly. I'm just not sure what more they can do.

Thrown out there? Both have been thrown out by several writers for many months now. As far as being named by somebody where a team is reported to have interest in them. There was this report THREE days ago but nothing since then:

Report: Five candidates on Eagles’ list | ProFootballTalk

Falcons Director of Player Personnel David Caldwell is reportedly the favorite for the Jags GM job and he has ties to Roman. No known interest by the Jaguars yet, though.

Perhaps they are trying to say that they "interviewed" Crennel to give him an opportunity to keep his job and thus met the black requirement.
