In a year with a lot of changes, it appears that the AFC W is going to stay the course. Last night's rumor is that the Unknown Hometown Chargers are going to retain McCoy.

The likely openings include:
Eagles
Chargers
Titans
Dolphins
Giants
49ers

Possibly:
Lions
Saints

Looks like our old friend Gase is a hot candidate along with our old nemesis McDaniels. Should be an interesting season of firings and hirings.

I see the Eagles have already interviewed Duce Staley - so they got their African American who isn't quite ready yet - checked off their list. If Duce Staley can get backs to play like he did - the Broncos should hire him.

So glad this is not us. Also weird thing this year it doesn't look like many of the new coaches will be coming from playoff teams. Maybe Hue Jackson for Cincinnati, McDaniels for the Patriots, and heard the Chiefs OC might get some interviews. Otherwise seems like a lot of names being mentioned from teams out of the playoffs. That seems very backwards to me.

SD had tons of injuries this year. I'd give him one more year to improve things.

This has been going on for a while. Coaches for the top playoff teams don't want to look disloyal - and then get caught in the playoff windows - so if you are a franchise who wants to get a quick start on next year - you move before the top assistants for the top teams can or will show interest.

Give Rivers a healthy team and they will contend and possibly win the AFC. I hope McCoy gets another year. I like him better than Kubiak as a head coach but that is just my opinion.

Give Denver a good O line and I'll take Kubes all day. Love him and he will retire as Denver's most successful coach all time. You can book that too since I'm on a " book it " roll. ;)

Well right here are the open spots...

New York Giants
Cleveland Browns
San Francisco 49ers
Philadelphia Eagles
Miami Dolphins
Tennessee Titans

Others still in consideration
Indianapolis Colts--I think this one is all but a done deal
Detroit Lions--Have to wait until the new GM is hired and makes a decision

Sean Payton is supposedly available for a 2nd round draft pick.

Coaches that are safe for now
Mike McCoy--I think he is a decent coach. I just don't see him as one that gets his team above that 9-7 maybe 10-6 area.

Jeff Fisher--How this guy still has a job. He is the definition of mediocrity. The Rams were supposed to be the dark horse team of the last 4 years yet nothing.

Gus Bradley--I like this decision. Give him one more year with all that youth and I honestly think the Jaguars have a chance of winning their division next year.

Jason Garrett--Another mediocre coach but I don't think a lot of what happened this year you can put on him.

Rex Ryan--I would have been very shocked if he was fired after just one year. I don't think he will have his team winning Super Bowls any time soon but I do think he can help them improve.
