I used to have demon sperm, but it got snipped in the pod.
Good news out of Ontario today:
Ontario reports 76 new coronavirus cases, lowest single-day increase since March
maybe buck-a-beer really does cure covid.I really can't believe it but Doug Ford hasn't been completely terrible through all this.

but yeah, he has been good about stepping out of the way and let the science people do their thing (much like Horgan)
At this point in my job hunt, a teaching job at a college or university seems my most likely employment option, and I am going to have a heck of a time feeling safe enough to accept a job teaching students in person. I can take all sorts of ownership and responsibility and precaution, but there is absolutely no accounting for student behavior. I don't see how it could possibly be done safely.
Look for private industry jobs that allow you to publish. There aren't a tonne but they are out there (wouldn't know where to look in your field) and they can be relevant experience for academia if that is your ultimate choice of career.
I went to grad school with a guy who was only interested in academia but when he got no offers at any decent unis he took one of these jobs as a stopgap. Nine years later he wouldn't take a tenure track position at Oxford if it was offered to him. And I'm pretty confident he's making ~$150K/year.
I've been applying for research jobs (government and academic mostly), but the research on my CV isn't super strong, whereas my teaching is. I barely managed to make it through my research; I won awards for my teaching. The reason I say I'm most likely to end up in a teaching job is not that they're where my search is focused, it's because my CV is definitely much more geared to landing one.
